The unsung hero of Storm Lake's season, [player_tooltip player_id='1765508' first='Cameron' last='Boyd'] showed up yet again in the quarterfinals for the Tornadoes. The second-leading scorer behind [player_tooltip player_id='1765515' first='Jaidyn' last='Coon'], Boyd stepped up in a big way with the Creighton sidelined for a portion of the game with foul trouble. With Coon having trouble getting going in regulation, Boyd showed out, making a multitude of difficult shots. Step-back three-pointers, floaters in the lain, finishing over the defense within a few feet of the bucket. Boyd, a Briar Cliff signee, looked like the best player on the court at times with the way he scored on Monday. Looking like the epitome of "That boy nice," with some of the shots he made, the Chargers hit a home run by getting the Storm Lake senior.

A lead guard that any team at the state tournament would love the luxury of having on their squad, [player_tooltip player_id='1765518' first='Jude' last='Gibson'] is an explosive athlete that can attack off the dribble and hit shots on the perimeter. An even-keel, never too high, never too low presence on the court, the Ballard senior is the catalyst of the offense, while also being a calming, unselfish presence on the court.

Putting up a quiet 20 points to go with eight assists and six rebounds, Gibson did anything and everything for the Bombers in their 70-40 quarterfinals victory over eighth-seeded Gilbert.

A wing/forward that led Pella in scoring during the season with 17.5 points pe contest, [player_tooltip player_id='2120763' first='Jack' last='McGuire'] took over when the Dutch needed him most in the quarterfinals against Carroll.

Looking completely down and out for the majority of the first three quarters, McGuire commanded the ball and scored at-will in the paint in the fourth quarter, putting up 24 points on a wildly efficient 10-of-14 shooting from the field, adding eight rebounds and two blocks for Pella. With soft touch on finishes -- either with a floater or hook shot over defenders -- McGuire scored with ease against a Carroll defense that boasts one of the top shot-blockers in all classes.

A lanky four that can put the ball on the deck in addition to scoring around the rim, [player_tooltip player_id='2413644' first='Jared' last='Mohr'] was a primary source of offense, even when the Tigers' offense started to struggle in the second half. Looking almost dead in the water because of McGuire's performance, Mohr ultiamtely put the nail in the Pella-sized coffin.

Getting a monumental and-one layup to go in the final minutes of the contest, Mohr capitalized the victory by making the free throw and taking command of the game. Finishing with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor and adding seven rebounds, Mohr showed that he can compete with some of the other top scoring wings in 3A like McGuire.

The definition of a volume shooter, [player_tooltip player_id='1978130' first='Hudson' last='Lorensen'] scored 23 points before halftime even hit for the ADM vs. Xavier game. A tad undersized -- and that's why he ended up Division II instead of D1 -- Lorensen makes up for his under 6-foot frame with quickness as a ball-handler and a lightning-quick release. With the ultimate green light for the Tigers, Lorensen took full-advantage, finished the game with 34 points on 12-of-24 shooting from the floor and making 4-of-8 three-point attempts.

Able and unafraid to dribble through traffic and attack the rim, too, the Upper Iowa signee dips through and around defenders and screens to get around the bucket. Using an effective floater on top of the rest of his bag of tricks, Lorensen is a threat to score at all times within a reasonable distance of the basket.
