The highly anticipated new edition of the class of 2027 rankings have finally been released, with 75 players including over 20 new players to the list! As I've warned before, ranking classes before their junior season is very tricky, so consider this more of a continued starting point and not a final draft, as there are plenty of players who will emerge and improve and things will change a lot over the next few years.

Today, we take a look at part three of the guards rankings, looking at some of the top point and combo guards in the class.

5) [player_tooltip player_id='2194713' first='Callen' last='Morrison'] | 5'8” PG | Woodside (#9 Overall)

Morrison may not have put up the numbers some of the other guys on this list did as a freshman, but that's because he was coming off the bench for a state championship team with tons of upperclassmen who went to or are committed to play in college. He was very good for [program_tooltip program_id='2226248' first='Boo' last='Williams'] 15U group this summer, showing that despite his size he's an absolute playmaker at the point guard position. He's a good athlete with end-to-end speed and a quick first step, he's a very good on ball defender, he makes shots from multiple levels and he has great vision as a playmaker too.

4) [player_tooltip player_id='2470549' first='Makel' last='Minor'] | 5'11” PG | Bishop O'Connell (#7 Overall)

Minor was the opposite, as he wasted no time his freshman season at James Monroe in Frederciksburg, showing he was going to be one of the top players in the state scoring 50 points in his first game. He showed it was no fluke being named All State as a freshman, having a big summer on the 3SSB Circuit with Team Loaded NC and now transferring to the WCAC where he'll show he can do it against high level competition. The 5'11” guard is a super talented shot maker who doesn't need much space to knock it down, he has good range from deep, he can get to spots in the midrange and he is a good finisher at the rim too.

3) [player_tooltip player_id='2353620' first='Troy' last='Tomlin'] | 6'3” CG | Paul VI (#5 Overall)

Coming into his freshman season Tomlin was very highly touted as he is a big time athlete for his age, and recently he picked up football where he could be even more dominant with his natural athleticism. The 6'3” combo guard is chock full of long term potential, as he is show time in transition and really shines on the defensive end with his ability to make plays and guard multiple positions. He can move off the ball where he can knock down open shots, he is a very good rebounder for his position and he can get downhill as a good finisher too.

2) [player_tooltip player_id='2353657' first='Kaylen' last='Chilton'] | 6'1” PG | Woodson (#4 Overall)

Chilton had a standout freshman season for Woodson, emerging throughout the season as one of their go-to scorers, and continuing that throughout the summer as well. The 6'1” lefty is a tough scoring guard who can operate with or without the ball in his hands, and he knows how to get to his spots and create space to make tough shots. He's a big time athlete who is likely still growing and will get more athletic as he grows into his body, he's a true three level scoring threat, he gets hot quickly but even as a scorer he shows he's an unselfish teammate who plays hard on both ends too.

1) [player_tooltip player_id='2353625' first='Andrew' last='Ross'] | 6'3” PG | Paul VI (#3 Overall)

Ross had a big time freshman season at St. Stephen's St. Agnes where he was the primary ball handler and playmaker from day one, and after transferring to PVI this summer he showed he's ready to be their guard of the future moving forward. He has great size as a lead guard and is a naturally quick and shifty ball handler who can break down defenders both in isolation and run the pick-and-roll to make plays for himself and others. He can knock down shots from deep off the catch or off the bounce, he puts pressure on the defense with his quickness, he is dynamic in transition and he has huge upside defensively with his athleticism.
