We've recently updated our senior class rankings in the state, with over 200 players ranked and plenty of new names and movement throughout the rankings. Here's a look at part one of the top shooting guards and small forwards in the senior class.

25) [player_tooltip player_id='1963530' first='Marcus' last='Hancock'] | 6'3” SG | St. Stephen's St. Agnes (#58 Overall)

Hancock has been on the scene since he was a freshman at St. John Paul the Great, and after transferring to SSSAS last season he was a big reason for their run to the VISAA D-I State Semifinals. He's a very intriguing available prospect as he can impact the game in a number of ways whether it's his high IQ and consistency to make the right play and decision, he has an absolute flame thrower from deep with effortless range and shoots it well over 40% from deep, and he's willing to sacrifice for his team and take on different roles to help them win.

24) [player_tooltip player_id='2347772' first='Jake' last='Bahr'] | 6'4” SG | Bishop Ireton (#57 Overall)

Bahr has been a starter for Ireton for the last two seasons, and he's quietly one of the more underrated players in the WCAC as he may not put up the biggest scoring numbers but he impacts the game across the board and is highly efficient in the way he does it. The 6'4” two guard works well off the ball and can knock down shots on kick-outs and coming off screens, he provides great energy and toughness on the defensive end where he competes and is willing to make the hustle plays, he is a good rebounder for his position, and he has a high IQ and makes the right play almost all the time.

23) [player_tooltip player_id='2618835' first='Carter' last='Bullock'] | 6'3” SG | Catholic (#56 Overall)

Bullock is coming off a good junior season and an even better summer, and he's set to be the leader and one of the go-to guys for Catholic his senior season this year. The 6'3” lefty has a lot to his game as he's quick and shifty off the bounce to get by defenders and get to the rim, he's an explosive finisher with good hang time and body control, he can score it from deep and in the midrange off the catch and off the bounce, and he is a good defender both on the ball and in help side as well.

22) [player_tooltip player_id='2624519' first='Stephon' last='Cherry'] | 6'4” SF | S3 Academy (#55 Overall)

Cherry has been a player we have been keeping an eye on since he was a freshman with a ton of upside, and so far in the fall and early in the season he's showing major strides as a player that is turning that upside into production and should have a big senior season. The 6'4” wing has great positional size and is a big time athlete when he gets out in transition or gets downhill, he can knock down open shots from deep and get to spots in the midrange, he's very good at playing through contact, and as he's showing improvement now it will only continue to get better moving forward.

21) Gabriel D'Alessandro | 6'4” SG | Miller School (#54 Overall)

D'Alessandro is coming off a hip injury that sidelined him for his entire junior season, and he played this summer but was still rehabbing, and so far in the early season and in the fall he looks healthy and has been nothing short of fantastic for Miller School in their uptempo system. He's shooting the ball very well with a quick release and effortless range from deep, he has been very good as a secondary ball handler who makes good decisions, and he always will bring an all-out style and toughness on both ends of the floor every time he plays.

20) [player_tooltip player_id='2561115' first='Jack' last='Castner'] | 6'4” SG | Western Albemarle (#49 Overall)

Castner is the senior leader for a Western Albemarle team that could make a lot of noise in the VHSL Class 3 this year, and he's one of the elite shooters you'll find in not just Charlottesville but in the entire state. He has a ton of translatable features including his positional size and length at 6'4” with long arms, he shoots the ball extremely well with good range and he doesn't need much space to get it off, and he's no slouch defensively as he has great instincts and competes with a chip as well.

19) [player_tooltip player_id='2612840' first='Abraham' last='Taft'] | 6'6” SF | Hampton (#48 Overall)

Taft had a huge junior season where he showed massive improvements from the high upside but raw prospect we saw early in his career, and he's shaping up to have an even bigger senior season and is one of the most underrated prospects in the state. The 6'6” wing has long arms and is very explosive which he's always coupled with a high motor, he defends multiple positions and is a very good rebounder for his position, but this past year he really showed improvements in his ability to create for himself and others off the bounce as well as knock down shots from deep too.

18) [player_tooltip player_id='1782684' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'] | 6'2” SG | Westfield (#46 Overall)

Brown has been a stalwart for the Westfield revival as he's been a starter since he was a freshman, and now as one of four seniors who have been together for years he'll look to lead them to a state championship this year. The 6'2” off guard is a walking basket as he can drill it from deep and work off the ball using cuts and coming off screens to make shots on the move, he can create off the bounce or attack closeouts and get to spots in the midrange and at the rim, he draws contact and gets to the line quite a bit, and he is a solid defender and leader on that end too.

17) [player_tooltip player_id='2252298' first='Mathias' last='Lee'] | 6'6” SF | Westfield (#43 Overall)

Lee is another player that's been around this Westfield group for years, and he's shown a ton of improvement over the last few seasons from an undersized big to an athletic wing who can play multiple positions, and he still has a ton of room to improve moving forward as well. The 6'6” wing has grown into his body and is now moving very fluid and playing well above the rim when he gets downhill, he's shown improvement in his ability to handle in transition and in isolation situations, he uses his length and athleticism to rebound and contest shots, and his versatility will allow them to go with many different looks this season.

16) [player_tooltip player_id='2252296' first='Davion' last='Brown'] | 6'4” SG | Trinity Episcopal (#40 Overall)

Yes, “Fat Rat” is clearly going to play football moving forward as he's the top ranked player in the state and one of the top receivers in the country who is one of the best available football players in the country, but don't get it twisted if he focused on basketball he would be a mid major plus prospect easily. The 6'4” off guard will step off the football field and onto the basketball court like it's absolutely nothing, and that's something only elite athletes can do. He is dynamic in transition and when he gets downhill, he can drill it from deep or work to the pull-up off the bounce, and defensively he could lock up the best player on the other team whenever he chooses to.

We've recently updated our senior class rankings in the state, with over 200 players ranked and plenty of new names and movement throughout the rankings. Here's a look at part one of the top shooting guards and small forwards in the senior class.
