Bivins was the guard standing across from Asare last night, and the #4 overall-ranked prospect in Virginia was able to send his team to the state finals. Bivins is a crafty guard who makes full use of the pick and roll to get his game off. Bivins has an impressive ability to gather low and use every inch of his wingspan to finish amongst the trees. Outside the paint, Bivins is a high-volume three-point shooter and creates a mid-range scorer. In the midrange, Bivins has made a signature out of one-legged runners and fadeaways to get his shot off over larger, more athletic defenders. Bivins excels at keeping his dribble alive in traffic against extreme and is an unselfish leader.

A McDonald’s All-American selection for Bishop O’Connell, Bivins has firmly established himself as one of the elite point guards in the country. A highly skilled floor general with an exceptional basketball IQ, he controls the tempo, reads defenses at a high level, and consistently makes the right play. He is a reliable shot maker from all three levels and pairs his scoring instincts with efficient decision-making. Averaging 17.5 points and 4.6 assists per game, he blends production with poise, serving as both a primary scorer and a true facilitator. His combination of skill, feel, and leadership makes him a difference-maker every time he steps on the floor.

is a really easy watch. Watching Darius a few years ago at the MLK classic in a tourney that kind of felt like his blowup, something that stood out to me was that it felt like he had a truly elite understanding of pace and feel for the game. That was best exemplified when he had

on him. Smith is a special defensive prospect, and he showed that a few times while on Bivins. But Darius definitely got the better of him a few possessions. Smith is a bigger, stronger, and more athletic player, and Darius got by him multiple times because of the way he’s able to string together his handles into space creation. He had 18 points and was especially good in the second half as the rest of the O’Connell team went a little cold.

Among the top available guards in the country, Bivins put on an absolute show while doing his best Superman impersonation to engineer a 4th-quarter comeback and eventual quadruple-overtime win over Gonzaga. After entering the 4th quarter with just 3 points, the recently-named McDonald’s All-American wound up with 38, proving to be impossible for the Eagle defense to contain as the game moved along. Despite his smaller stature, Bivins was relentless attacking the rim off the dribble, showing advanced footwork and finishing dexterity to go with one of the nation’s best handles. He kept the ball moving when appropriate, often commanding traps out near midcourt, and also came up with a handful of key plays with his active hands on defense. No play was bigger than his miraculous leaning and-one 3-pointer with seconds left in the third overtime to tie the game. It was nothing short of a legendary performance on one of the biggest stages possible.

Not a freakish athlete from a run/jump standpoint. He doesn’t have blazing speed, but Darius game revolves more around changes of speed, craftiness and pace. Struggles to finish over length at times. He is at his best when he has the opposing guards on there heels while he is getting downhill. That’s when Darius is at his best. Finish the 4OT victory against Gonzaga with 38 points on 14-28 from the field and 1-7 from the 3pt line. Also filled out the stat sheet pulling down 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Darius scored 34 points in the 2nd half.

Bivins controlled the tempo with his play and lulls defenders to sleep with the speed he plays at. I like how he is in complete control of his body when he s on the attack. Bivins has a reliable layup package and can find the bucket in an array of ways once he gets inside of the paint. I like how he knows the right times to pull out his runner.

24p 8a 1r 1s (7/10 FG 2/4 3P 8/8 FT) vs St James
-One if the if not the top performer of the event, Bivins put on a show with an efficient and balanced performance in a win over the St James. Like the way that he’s building on the momentum from last season and this summer by playing much more aggressively and confidently at the offensive end of the floor. Bivins overcame some early TO troubles to finish with 8 assists, serving as an effective primary creator and connector on the wing to ensure that O’Connell got the best possible move. He hit a corner C+S 3, hit another 3 off the bounce, finished in the paint with a variety of stepbacks and floaters, and went a perfect 8/8 from the line. He’s vacillating between scoring and passing within the flow of the game at a pretty high level. Thought that he did a better job of chesting up to ride over the top of screens and stay connected to a man as those defensive microskills will be very important for him at the next level. Big week defeating IMG Academy and The St James EYBL Scholastic team on back to back nights.

15p 9a 4r 2s vs Massanutten; 6p 4a 2s vs Woodside
-One of the best floor general PGs in the country, Bivins showed what he could do while leading his team to two double-digit wins against good VA teams. The cross court and pocket passes off a live dribble set the table for some really easy looks at the rim for his teammates and he finished the day with a 13-1 assist to turnover ratio. Bivins is also taking opportunities to pressure the ball, collecting 4 steals in the 2 games while forcing turnovers in the halfcourt as he has gotten better at cutting off driving angles to the rim. Want to see him call his own number a few more possessions each game and beef up his FTA with more trips to the free throw line but I don’t know many prospects in the area that are more valuable to their teams than Bivins.

Fresh off the official visit to Rutgers and Houston…Bivins continues to showcase his impressive confidence and control with the ball in his hands. The 2026 guard consistently pushed the pace, leading transition opportunities with sharp vision and unselfish decision-making. He made timely passes, spaced the floor effectively, and proved to be a reliable shot-maker—both off the catch and off the bounce. His ability to create separation and read the game at a high level. The matchup against the rapidly rising Wayne Santos will be a must watch game on Sunday

Bivins was arguably the best prototypical lead guard at the Invitational, as he showed elite court vision and play making all weekend long for the Washington Warriors. The 6-foot-1 Bivins is a true point guard that has a strong handle on the ball, keeps the dribble alive while finding holes in the defense, and makes pin-point passes in tight windows when attacking off the perimeter or finding teammates cutting off screens. Bivins plays with a nice change of pace and direction to keep his defender off balance, consistently probes the defense to find openings to attack, and makes some finds that make heads spin on and off the court. Bivins is accurate with the 3-ball off the catch, likes to get to the mid-range with good body control on the fadeaway and one-handed float shot, and is creative on finishes around the basket over height. Bivins was one of the more talked about lead guards at the Invitational, with most scouts and coaches commenting on his superb play making.
