About Corey
Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Dixon, a Second Team All-WCAC selection, has emerged as a dynamic scoring guard who averaged 16 points per game for Bishop O’Connell. Strong and physical in the backcourt, he has the versatility to play with or without the ball in his hands, making him a valuable offensive piece. He combines good strength with a high basketball IQ, allowing him to read defenses, create opportunities for teammates, and make sound decisions under pressure.
A solid three-point shooter, Dixon can stretch the floor, but he is equally comfortable creating offense off the bounce and attacking gaps when defenders close out. His blend of scoring ability, playmaking instincts, and physical tools makes him a well-rounded guard who impacts the game in multiple ways.

A quick and shifty combo guard with deceptive athleticism and a long wiry frame. He is all arms and legs but is silky smooth and can dominate in stretches and make it look effortless! His ability to use the dribble to create separation with dazzling moves on the open floor showing particularly good end to end speed and difference maker on the offensive end. And his crafty defensive instincts are intruiging along with his ability to use his length to rebound and play the passing lanes. Corey finished the game with 16 points 5-16 from the field, 3-8 from the 3pt line, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals.

14p 5a 3r 1b 4s vs DeMatha
-Really, really have come away impressed with the strides that Dixon has made as an on-ball defender this season. Dixon is tracing the ball well on his opponent’s dribble pick-up’s to force turnovers and deflections, is contesting or blocking perimeter shooters, and is playing more disciplined to avoid foul trouble. The DM game was no different, using his defense to fuel his offense with 3 steals that turned into buckets or FTs at other end to get him in a scoring rhythm. He then scored on a good flash to the middle for the catch and quick floater, scored on a backdoor layup, and hit a huge hanging double clutch lay off the window for the AND1 bucket. Love the skill progression and improved feel, which is why he was moved into the top 5 for his class in the state of Virginia.

Dixon has been a prospect that I’ve been higher on than most for some time now. The fluidity, shot making ability off the bounce, and overall IQ were all early indicators for me that he’d be a safe bet as his body continues to develop through high school. We’re now seeing the fruits of his labor come to the forefront playing alongside one of the best table-setting point guards in the country in

as O’Connell looks to make some noise in the WCAC. Dixon responded to a standout performance on Saturday in a win over Imhotep Charter (PA) where he finished with 20 points with another 20-point outing that resulted in a victory over Sidwell Friends (DC). Dixon was the definition of efficiency yesterday as he scored his 20 off eight total shots from the field while cashing in on 5-of-6 beyond the arc. He can make his defender pay with the slightest of hesitations on a closeout, regather his balance well playing off the bounce in high ball screens for pull-ups, or attacking said closeouts with 1-to-2 dribbles and calmly knocking down looks from the mid-range. Dixon also contributed seven rebounds and three steals in yesterday’s win.

7p 2a 2s vs Woodside; 25p 3r 3s vs Massanutten (7/12 FG)
-Played more off the ball in the Knights’ first matchup with Woodside that went lopsided pretty quickly but really showed out in a nice win over Massanutten PG in the second game of the day. Dixon showed his ability to create his own shot off the bounce, scoring efficiently from all 3 levels while also earning double digit FTA. An improved handle has led to an improved ability to attack closeouts and mix it up with bigs in the paint while he has also improved his burst with the ball in his hands. Expect him to form one of the best backcourts in the area this season alongside Bivins.

Dixon a transfer from Good Counsel. Dixon ability to play on/off the ball has stood out this fall. The 6’2 two-way guard demonstrated a mature all-around game — handling, passing, and shooting with confidence. His ability to slide between guard spots and create for others highlights his versatility and advanced feel.

-The offensive development as a shot creator on the ball and a shot-maker off the ball has been noticeable for Dixon in new threads at Good Counsel. The lift on his jumper has improved with a restructured shot pocket and Dixon is scoring efficiently from all 3 levels off the bounce, off of movement, and off of pivot moves in/around the paint. Dixon steps into a leadership role on a team that really needs him to score and he has thrived coming off of screens as a ballhandler or movement shooter. The next step in his development will be using that scoring gravity to create for others, capitalizing on the simple passing reads to create a shot for a teammate to in turn make it more difficult for his opponents to send 2 defenders at him. Bright future for the sophomore prospect.

had an outstanding game for Good Counsel in their loss against Cardozo. Good Counsel has a lot of talent, but a lot of their top players struggled shooting in this game. Corey was one of the lone bright spots for them scoring the ball, and she showed why he’s one of the best guards in the state. Corey drove to the basket effectively and knocked down a handful of threes. He finished with 25 points.
