Condon was one of the the better jump shooters in the event as he connected on nearly 40 percent of his 8.3 three-point field goal attempts for the session. The sturdily-built 6-foot-7 forward has the size and skill-set to play both the three and four spot and thrive in those roles on both sides of the floor. Condon isn’t just a shooting specialist, either, as he showed straight-line drive finishing ability and strong two-footed finishes in the lane.

26p 11r 1a (5/10 3P) vs Nightrydas
-In an offseason where he has seen a ton of coverage as an inside-out dynamo for a good Melo 17u group, Condon delivered a marquee performance in a TV game on the main court vs a Nightrydas team full of top names. Condon knocked down five 3s off the catch, rebounded his own missed 3 and hit a short corner floater, swept through a long closeout to drive baseline and finish with a finger roll before the defense could recover, and hit his defender with an up fake and step through finish move off of an offensive rebound to score at the rim. His ability to make the correct split-second read in perimeter DHOs from the top of the key accentuates both his play-making and shooting ability as a stretch 4 prospect that just continues to outwork and outscore his matchup.

Condon’s stock has soared since the beginning of the spring and as expected, many of those programs who extended offers made him a stop on their June recruiting schedule. Belmont, Boston College, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Syracuse had extended offers in May, but the new staff at NC State decided to get involved as well in early June. The 6’7″ forward made many a believer in his ability to score it inside/out while providing value as a connector at both ends that fuels winning basketball.

Condon has received a one-spot boost in the last two updates and rightfully so as the 6’7″ forward’s recruitment and development is steadily trending in the right direction. There’s never been a question with Condon’s toughness, IQ and willingness to do what his team needs in order to win, but the conversation around his positional size is what was keeping some P5 programs from getting involved. Condon responded by showing off his floor-spacing ability this spring and not as just a guy who can hit one every now and then. In fact, he’s converting his look from three at a 41.4 percent mark on 70 total attempts in EYBL play. His decision making off the bounce and ability to pose as more of threat in these scenarios has improved as has his lateral quickness guarding in space, which has silenced many of the “concerns” programs once had projecting him as a prospect. As a result, Condon has collected offers from Belmont, Boston College, NC State, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Syracuse since early May to go with a host of offers he already held.

23p 11r 1s 1b vs Gonzaga
-Condon’s torrid play continues even without his starting PG as he showcased his duality as a 3/4 tweener that contributes in several different areas that lead to a winning brand of basketball. Condon knocked down a sidestep three OTB, hit several pick n pop jumpers, posted up and scored over smaller matchups or guards when the Quakers got the 1/4 switch, and was an active helper at the defensive end to block one shot and affect several more looks around the rim. His box-out’s and screens are both consistently physical and well-timed to help contribute to an efficient offense.

Another prospect who is dominating statistically on the EYBL, Condon is averaging 19 points and almost seven rebounds a game shooting 45% from the floor. According to his high school program, Condon holds offers from Boston College, NC State, Syracuse, UCF, Saint Joseph’s, Virginia Tech, American University, Villanova, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and more. When you combine the efficiency he has from multiple areas on the court as well as his rebounding and physicality and you get a prospect who should be able to adjust well at the college level within a system.

Another Melo forward who ended in a strong manner was Condon. I wrote about his offensive versatility as a shot maker in our recent viewing against New World and this weekend further confirmed his progression as a true threat from deep. His percentage on the EYBL site doesn’t indicate the accuracy because their last game against Final hasn’t been submitted into the totals, but Condon’s shooting in that game was nothing short of impressive. Catching and getting into his shot on the move whether it was quick cuts to the corner or stop-and-pops in transition, he’s found the ability to stay in a flow once he sees one fall and can answer it with another on the ensuing possession.
He had his usual, physical presence in the paint alongside Taylor and as I assumed, they made things difficult on opposing frontcourts having to guard the entire floor rather than sag off in the paint to hunt blocks.

Condon is really becoming an offensive hub and although he and Taylor don’t offer the elite size that they’ll face in EYBL play, there won’t be many 6’10”-7’0″ bigs that can chase them around the floor. Condon has now turned himself into not just a guy that you need to respect from three, but a guy that you need to meet on the catch. In transition when a rim run wasn’t available, Condon faded to corners and knocked down three’s off the catch. He playing out of pick-and-pops and if he wasn’t letting it fly, he’d act as an offensive hub for high-lows to Taylor, quickly swinging to the opposite wing and head hunting a defender to screen or putting it on the deck and using his bullish frame to get where he wanted. Hardhat style forward who has adopted plenty of translatable skills that you need as a toolsy stretch forward.

-Condon was an inside-out monster that took some serious strides as a leader, communicator, and defender for the Quakers this season as his team dealt with a slew of different injuries to key pieces. Condon proved himself as a great pick n pop wing, improved his lateral movement skills and foot speed to defend at a higher level in side ball screen actions, and built his sprinting endurance to run at a breakneck pace throughout expanded minutes for the Quakers to become a dynamic force at both ends for his team. It will be interesting to track his development this summer as he continues to grow physically to match his emotional maturity as a dependable double-double performer that continues to expand his skillset with a work ethic and passion for the game that continues to prove to be elite.

Condon was named to the All-MET team from the DC Coaches with a large majority of the players selected alongside him being seniors committed to high major programs. Condon had an excellent season for Sidwell Friends School, leading them to their fifth straight 20+ win season and fifth straight conference title. Ian put up impressive numbers on a nightly basis, scoring 19 points, grabbing eight rebounds and generating three and a half defensive stocks (steals + blocks) a contest while shooting 55/42/82 splits from the floor. Holding offers to schools like Villanova, Virginia Tech, UCF and most recently Cal, Condon has plenty of options going into his 17 U summer.
