-Schneeberg rounds out our top five as a dynamic guard that did a little bit of everything for Sidwell this season. Schneeberg was effective both on or off the ball as a playmaker that uses his paint touches to create for teammates in the halfcourt or in transition. Love his active hands as a defender that stays home but takes the right gambles to get his hands on the ball without giving up free trips to the rim on overplays for steals. He also grew at least an inch over the course of the year and added in more dynamic speed in the open floor. Schneeberg will serve as one of the engines on the ball on the afore-mentioned team with Nuñez and Echebi.

-Our scouts love Schneeburg’s utility as a guard prospect that can play on the ball or off, making good decisions attacking closeouts from the wings or as an off-ball cutter that finds open spots in vulnerable pockets of the defense. I wouldn’t call Schneeberg overly fast or a dynamic athlete quite yet, but I love the pace that he plays with the ball in his hands– probing the defense to take advantage of ball screens or late rotations to get to his spots in the halfcourt. With some injuries in the backcourt that should create some trial by fire growth opportunities for the freshman over the next week or so, we’re excited to see how he capitalizes in his games this week!

In a contest against a notable opponent, Schneeberg arguably stood out as the main x-factor for Sidwell Friends. With the absence of Judah Washington from the lineup the 6-5 freshman guard was the primary ball handler. And he just simply knows how to run a team, and that certainly applies to Schneeberg. Coach Shackleford admitted he tried to speed him up. But couldn’t do it. Elijah handles pressure well. He understands how to lead by example while providing a strong blend of penetration, playmaking, and perimeter shooting. Schneeberg dictates the action with IQ, poise, and pace as the main creator. He offers terrific balance between scoring and playmaking, showing the ability to consistently alter his approach based on team needs. Schneeberg is a tough, sturdy frame defender at the point of attack and anticipates well to force turnovers.

-Sometimes, simple just wins. Schneeburg arrives at Sidwell as a 6’4 guard that can thrive both on or off the ball as a freshman that should make an immediate impact. His size allows him to see over the defense and make plays passing the basketball with either hand. But he’s also very strong for his age and is really difficult to turn over, doesn’t get sped up by ball pressure and makes good reads before the defense can cut off his water. His ability to operate in the PnR as a passer/scorer or thrive on the wing as a connector/shooter make him a valuable piece for Coach Singletary and company as they look to make some noise on the national level this season.
