Previous Rank: 55
-O’Brien served as a skilled guard off the bench for a deep and senior-led Whitman team that played in the Regional Championship. O’Brien has good positional size, spaces the floor well with his perimeter shooting, and made better reads attacking closeouts as the season wore on as the game began to slow down for him. Interested to see how his role shakes out with a really talented 15u Durant group.

-O’Brien has stood out to several of our scouts as a young wing prospect with some nice upside as a passer, shooter, and off-ball mover. O’Brien shows advanced feel as a freshman that has earned consistent minutes as a freshman for a deep Whitman group that runs some crisp halfcourt actions.

15p vs Northwestern
-Liked the all-around impact that O’Brien made in a nice win for Whitman on the road against Northwest. O’Brien served as a great connector on the short roll or on baseline cuts to either score for himself or create for one of his teammates when he drew two defenders. His touch from all 3 levels stood out as a prospect that has advanced feel at this stage in his career as well. He had several key offensive rebounds and a huge and1 bucket to seal the double-digit win for his team.

O’Brien is a budding wing with good size on the perimeter. He left his mark on the game from behind the arc and connected on four threes in a loss to Downingtown West (PA). He shoots a clean ball and if his feet are set good luck!! O’Brien was also able to find ways to rebound the basketball. Looking forward to tracking him over the next several years.

Really strong showing for O’Brien in yesterday’s game where Whitman came up short in the bracket championship game versus a very good Downington West (PA) squad. At 6-foot-4, O’Brien poses really nice positional size to go with a flamethrower from deep. The freshman accounted for 16 points off the bench, which included four three’s that all came in catch-and-shoot scenarios. He has sound, confident form and doesn’t need much time to get it off. His size and high release on his jumper also are key indicators of sustained results as he may need a slight boost in the 2029 rankings update coming up in a month.

In a setting where so many players need the ball to be successful, he stood out without requiring a ton of touches. Rowan is a low-maintenance piece with the IQ, motor, and skillset to naturally fill in the gaps on both ends of the floor. He’s a terrific off-ball cutter who applies quality scoring pressure inside the arc. Rowan is a reliable midrange shooter and useful penetrating threat. He’s a scrappy defender with the energy and positioning to contain his assignment. Next in his development process is working on the use of his off hand, as it would make him a better creator against pressure. Rowan is a very strong player who finishes well around the basket. Runs the floor in transition. Sets great screens. Very high-energy player with the ability to outwork others. Rowan did a lot of things well should be a vital future piece for the always competitive Walt Whitman program.
