Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Lee is a versatile combo forward with size, length and athleticism. The senior has the ability to step out and make a perimeter jump shot but is best being active in the paint, on the glass and in transition. College coaches looking for a versatile forward should be tracking the Westfield senior.

enters the class of 2027 as a 6’7″ prospect with a solid college frame. His size and build make him one of the more intriguing frontcourt players to monitor, offering length, rebounding ability, and ability to score comfortable from the perimeter and be a versatile defensive contributor on defensive end.

3rd time seeing Mathias play and he continue to impress every time I have watched him. He is a versatile hybrid forward with impressive offensive skills. Lee is a gifted long-range shooter that also operates well out of the high post, mid-range and has a high basketball IQ. His effort on the glass is notable too. Lee will be a mismatch problem for a lot of teams this season in Class 6 Region Division next year.

was fantastic for Westfield today. Mathias has been excellent for Westfield on the glass and on defense. Mathias turned defense into offense today, and he did great work in the paint. He had a lot of tough finishes and had a thunderous transition dunk. Mathias is a tremendous athlete and has great defensive versatility. If Mathias develops a reliable three-point shot, then he will be the perfect wing at the next level. I love his high-level two-way potential, and I love the consistent energy he brings. He had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

-Lee flashed explosive athleticism throughout a nice win over Potomac. The forward finished several high-flying dunks, recovered nicely to block a shot from behind, and displayed some improved burst with the ball in his hands. Love him as a high upside developmental piece that a college coach can mold into an explosive 3+D wing tweener.

Westfield is loaded with talent, especially in their 2026 class. Mathias is this team’s glue guy, and he does a lot of different things for them. Mathias has great size and can guard 1-5. He does a great job on the glass and does all the little things well. Mathias is a strong finisher and a great athlete. Westfield got two excellent wins today, and Mathias was outstanding in both. He had 20 points and 4 rebounds against Potomac School, then had 13 points and 4 rebounds against John Handley.

-One of the most slept-on players in the state, Lee was crucial to a good Westfield team this season. A mobile 3/4 tweener that uses his athleticism to physically dominate his matchup, he can guard up or down a position and is willing to do the dirty work in the trenches if need be. Lee can finish plays above the rim, attacks closeouts well from the perimeter, does well on switches in ball screen situations, and deters slashers from attacking the rim. Stoked to see him play this weekend in Richmond.

last season, you knew that when he put it all together, he would be a serious problem. This summer, I saw him refine parts of his game, and he looks like one of the best forwards in NOVA public school ball. Westfield has a lot of talent in their rising Junior class, so sometimes Mathias gets fazed out as a scorer. He still makes an impact with his size and athleticism as a roller. He can guard multiple positions and has excellent size. He had a lot of solid performances in the Hammerzone summer league and was a big standout.
