The OHSAA season is about a month away and it's time to start taking a look at which teams could have state title aspirations in each Division. We started in Division VII and have made it to Division V. In this article we'll break down teams 6-10 in our preseason rankings.

6. Columbus Academy

I was high on Columbus Academy last season and while they had a solid season, I think their upside is even greater this winter. With [player_tooltip player_id='2082034' first='Theo' last='Falkenhain'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2213494' first='Anderson' last='Davis'] back as seniors, they have the experience to lean on in tight games. The biggest factor for Columbus Academy will be just how large the jump [player_tooltip player_id='2426114' first='Jason' last='Singleton'] makes. He recently received his first offer from Detroit Mercy. If Singleton becomes a guy who can take over on both ends of the court, Columbus Academy will be a top 10 team in Division V this season.

7. Minford

The duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1888322' first='Bennett' last='Kayser'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1432013' first='Myles' last='Montgomery'] have been dominant in southeast Ohio together. Despite all the success, the Convo has been a house or horrors for the Falcons. This final ride will be their chance to cement their legacy in school history as I believe Minford has the talent to win a district and compete with central Ohio's best on the big playoff stage. They'll need one or two other guys to step up alongside them if they want a different playoff result.

8. Columbus Africentric

A strong 2026 class will have Africentric back in the mix in central Ohio after they made it to back-to-back state final four's with the leadership of Dailyn Swain. [player_tooltip player_id='2459115' first='Rohaun' last='Hardy'] is the next star for the Nubians and [player_tooltip player_id='2459113' first='Derron' last='Gray Jr'] is an impact guy on both ends. Africentric has a gritty style of play that's been tough to beat in March.

9. Toledo Emmanuel Christian

The TAAC has a lot of talent and Emmanuel Christian has a deep team with a lot of talent. [player_tooltip player_id='2125216' first='Antwoine' last='Mister'], [player_tooltip player_id='2535560' first='Cedric' last='Hester'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2204905' first='Anthony' last='Trombley'] are just some of the names that will be key as Emmanuel Christian looks to replace [player_tooltip player_id='1705961' first='Nate' last='Miles'] production as he left for Huntington Prep.

10. Fairview

The Warriors won their first district title in school history last year and return star 2026 players in [player_tooltip player_id='2328306' first='Will' last='Allen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2328307' first='Burke' last='Lowry']. Combine that with senior athlete Jr Beato and Fairview has their most talent on a roster since the 2021-22 season. Can the Warriors go back-to-back with district titles in the loaded northeast region?
