Davis is a live body big who thrives making a living on the interior and is all the right spots to shag rebounds. He plays with an assertive motor and doesn’t take plays off. He is a brick wall screener who makes it tough for defenders to get through him. Davis finished with 10 points. He would be a great pickup at the small college level.

Davis passes the eye test. He has some great size and build for his position. He showed to be bringing the ball up the court a little bit more. He seemed to do well in this role in transition. He grabbed the rebound and pushed the pace well. He is an aggressive player who is really good at finishing with contact. An underrated player to watch out for with this young but talented Columbus Academy team.

I’ve liked Davis for a while after first discovering him at the Midwest fall league about 9 months ago. Impacting the game in the same ways that originally impressed me, Davis is a high IQ player who does a nice job getting extra possessions for his team. An efficient scorer, Davis doesn’t force the issue and takes smart shots. Despite a low arcing jumper, Davis knocked down a pair of open 3-pointers in the one game I saw of his. Davis also got some easy buckets in the PNR as his guards got the defensive attention. Davis has already taken multiple visits to high academic small college programs with a focused approach to his recruitment.

Davis really impressed me Friday night. This junior is freakishly long and knows how to play the game. I loved what Davis did for Columbus Academy on defense. He can guard a lot of different positions. He does amazing at help-side defense. He had multiple blocks all game that were due to the offensive player not seeing him. He does a great job of stunting into the help side position and getting back. He is a really good finisher. He got to the rim efficiently all game. He is a solid player that makes no mistakes.

Another prospect I caught at the Midwest Basketball Club Fall League, Davis showed his versatility as a two-way wing with some offensive explosions and tough defensive performances guarding the opposing teams top scorer. Davis has continued this momentum into the high school season as Columbus Academy sits at 8-1. Davis also attended multiple college elite camps this past summer, at high academic programs. For schools similar to Emory, Columbia, Harvard, Cornell and Brown where Davis took visits to, those are the programs that should be looking into Davis this spring and summer.

Columbus Academy have a lot to be excited about next season and it seems like Davis is ready to take a step and become one of the best small school talents in central Ohio. With his athleticism and length, he can give opposing studs trouble when he guards them and he’s a capable scorer as well.

A name I’ve seen highlights of before but never really gotten the chance to watch in person for a full game, Davis was really impressive on Saturday morning by impacting the game in a variety of ways. A long athlete from the wing position, defensively Davis did a good job making life difficult for opposing wings looking to attack and blocked a few shots at the rim. His athleticism and motor allow him to have a big defensive impact for his team. On the offensive end, Davis is starting to more consistently make jumpers off the catch and bounce and is a guy you can’t leave open from 3-point range. I’d say the biggest area of development for Davis will be with his ball handling, if he can tighten up his handle, it’ll allow him to more easily create space to shoot and beat closeouts from the wing. This would allow him to take the next step in his game. Columbus Academy is a sleeper in central Ohio this winter and Davis is one of their top prospects.
