Teams to Watch

Orem

Likely the #1 team in the state when it comes to high schools in the UHSAA. Orem is one of the most anticipated teams in the state in awhile. They will be missing at least 2 pieces as they are playing football. With that said they will suit up 5 players that will be playing at a D1. They will be lead by shifty and high IQ point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1260479' first='Chance' last='Dastrup']. Dastrup has been under the radar most of his career but will not be among the best lead guards in the state and he should have a lot of options in the paint and on the wings. [player_tooltip player_id='1164726' first='Jax' last='Allen'] is a lanky guard that can slash among the best and he is getting to a physical level where he could create contact and finish through it. He will be much improved from last season. [player_tooltip player_id='1146661' first='Trey' last='Hiatt'] is another player that is a hard working defensive minded SF that has been working on his shooting and he will be able to stretch the floor more and play the 3 at times if they decide to go big. [player_tooltip player_id='1278444' first='Kai' last='Wesley'] is another player who has bulked up over the past year and will be a PF that will take charges and defend and rebound. [player_tooltip player_id='1146666' first='Chamberlain' last='Burgess'] will have a chance to run up the floor, get touches and protect the paint. Do not be surprised if Burgess has a 10+ block game this coming season.

This team is loaded and will be tested at the GWC.

Dream City Christian

This Arizona based program has been a staple since Day 1 at the GWC. They will be a main event type of team as they will have high flyer [player_tooltip player_id='1595670' first='Ikenna' last='Alozie'] on the team who absolutely blew up this spring and summer. Alozie is one of the best players in the country in the Class of 2026 and he is just getting started. They have a young big in Christopher Brown in the Class of 2027 who is 6'10. He is a 4-star big with major upside and he should pick up interest quickly. Dream City also added the #1 player from New Mexico in [player_tooltip player_id='1176298' first='Jalin' last='Holland'] another 4-star kid who's final 3 include Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico. Bring your popcorn this should be a fun team to watch.

Layton Christian Academy

LCA brings talent every year and this year they bring almost everyone back from a big time run and state championship. [player_tooltip player_id='1575685' first='Tyrin' last='Jones'] is the real deal and the recent UNLV commit will try and dunk everything. The big fella [player_tooltip player_id='2304482' first='Alan' last='Gballou'] has more than a handful of offers and he is a unit! He will put pressure on defenses with how big and strong he is. [player_tooltip player_id='2410825' first='Anor' last='Wogar'] is a sleeper get at the next level and this team is just loaded and if a college coach is looking for a steal they just need to come watch this team hoop.

Judge Memorial

Judge last year ran the table in 3A and they will run it back with all their dudes coming back. [player_tooltip player_id='1146662' first='JJ' last='Apathjang'] is committed and is a shifty player that is hard to cover. He will be handling a lot of the ball handling. Excited about some of the young players that will likely get some run in games. [player_tooltip player_id='1438933' first='AJ' last='Peek'] is bigger and stronger and has proven he can defend multiple positions as a hybrid wing. [player_tooltip player_id='1568003' first='Deng' last='Deng'] has improved and has [player_tooltip player_id='1364090' first='Longar' last='Alor']. The other player that we are excited to see is [player_tooltip player_id='1614839' first='Aymen' last='Ismail'] this kid has the ability to really light it up from deep.
