Harrington is a long, poised wing with a tremendous skill set and the demeanor that you look for in a big-time prospect. He never gets too high or too low, doesn’t force anything, and is an elite shooter already. He’s a dynamic weapon as a catch-and-shoot wing, but showed enough playmaking off the dribble as a freshman to be encouraged by his potential there as well. He reminds me a lot of Keegan Murray, which isn’t to say that he’ll be a lottery pick in the future, but there is a lot to be excited about here. He averaged 13.3 points and 3.0 rebounds on 55-47-72 shooting splits for one of the best teams in 4A.
(2) CG Charlie King Charlie King 6'4" | CG Roosevelt | 2027 State IA | Roosevelt | Kingdom Hoops
King (pictured) had some huge games throughout his freshman year with the Roughriders, most notably a 37-point outburst against Waterloo East in which he showcased a little bit of everything in his arsenal. He’s a high IQ 6-3/6-4 guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, shooting it well off the catch and creating well off the dribble. A hard-nosed player who pounds the glass hard on both ends of the floor, he’ll contribute across the board. He averaged 11.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.8 steals a game.
(3) SG Landon Blum Landon Blum 6'5" | SG Woodbine | 2027 State IA | Woodbine | ETG Midwest 3SSB
It’s really easy to get excited about the long-term potential of Blum, a hyper-athletic 6-5/6-6 wing who can shoot it off the catch, attack off the bounce, and who has the athletic attributes to provide some real versatility on the defensive end of the floor. He was an All-State receiver as a freshman and has picked up a Division I football offer from Iowa State, but he’s also oozing with potential on the hardwood.
(4) PG Jerimiah Washpun Jerimiah Washpun 5'10" | PG Liberty | 2027 State IA | Liberty | Kingdom Hoops
Washpun is a quick guard with great handles and a fantastic first step that he uses to blow by defenders and get to the rim, where he showcased good body control and the ability to finish through contact at the rim. He’s a talented playmaker who sees the floor well, and he has a good feel for the game. Freshmen starting in a 4A league at point guard are rare, and Washpun held his own, averaging 7.6 points and 2.2 assists on 42-34-59 splits.
(5) CG Michael Joyce Michael Joyce 6'1" | CG Bishop Garrigan | 2027 State IA | Bishop Garrigan | Kingdom Hoops
Joyce is the next in the line of skilled college prospects to go through 1A Bishop Garrigan. A talented 6-0 guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, he has a huge wingspan that he uses to impact the game on the defensive end, and he has a really good feel for the game as a playmaker and shot creator. He knows how to get to his spots in the mid-range, is a good enough shooter from the arc that it needs to be respected, and he sees the floor really well. He averaged 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists a game as a freshman for the Golden Bears.
(6) SG Mack Heitland Mack Heitland 6'0" | SG Waukee Northwest | 2027 State IA | Waukee Northwest | Martin Brothers
Heitland is a standout athlete already at Northwest, and may be one of the best shooters in the state in the 2027 class. He made a big impact for the Wolves as a freshman, averaging 5.6 points off the bench and shooting nearly 41% from behind the arc. He has a quick release off the catch and unlimited range, and while he didn’t show much of it during his varsity run as a freshman, he can also create off the bounce for his teammates. He’s a high IQ player and solid defender who moves his feet and positions himself well.
(7) SG Braylon Bingham Braylon Bingham 6'2" | SG Pleasantville | 2027 State IA | Pleasantville | Kingdom Hoops
A long, skilled 6-2 wing, Bingham was one of the most productive freshmen in the state this year, averaging 20.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.3 steals a game. He can create looks off the dribble for himself and his teammates, and his jumper is good enough now that it needs to be respected, but it could become a major weapon. Adding some consistency to his stroke will be the next step in his development.
(8) SG Fami Yusuf Fami Yusuf 6'3" | SG Sioux City East | 2027 State IA | Sioux City East | Team Warwick
The next in the line of athletic young Yusufs coming through East, Fami is an athletic, long wing who thrives when he’s playing downhill and using his speed, length, and athleticism to create chaos on both ends of the floor. He has good body control around the rim, is a capable shooter from deep, and provides some defensive versatility with his physical attributes.
(9) SF Jaden Houser Jaden Houser 6'2" | SF Johnston | 2027 State IA | Johnston | Iowa United
Houser didn’t get any varsity run for the Dragons as a freshman, but has impressed during each viewing of him on the grassroots circuit and during showcase events. An athletic wing with good length, the ability to create off the dribble, and defend multiple positions, he’s a high upside wing who is just scratching the surface of his abilities.
(10) SF Jasani Campbell Jasani Campbell 6'2" | SF Ankeny | 2027 State IA | Ankeny | Iowa United
Campbell is another player who didn’t see any varsity time, but his ability to create his own shot off the dribble has been evident in each viewing of him outside of high school play. He handles it well and does a nice job using his physical frame to absorb contact around the rim. He can create additional space with his handles and footwork, and has a really pretty looking mid-range game.
