Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Hoops Scout
I first saw Courbat last high school season. He’s an intriguing prospect with an interesting set of skills. The left-hander is a sneaky-good athlete with explosion. He can score on all three levels. He attacks the rim and sees the floor well. Courbat reports scholarship offers from New Jersey Institute of Technology, North Dakota, Kansas City and Truman State. He’ll be fun to watch at Wells Fargo Arena.

Courbat is a high-upside forward with eye-popping athleticism and great size at 6-8. He’s an explosive leaper and dominant rim protector who blocked 2.6 shots a game as a junior for the Tigers in addition to 12.6 points and 6.3 rebounds. He’s a highlight reel waiting to happen on both ends of the floor.

Courbat is a high-upside forward with the ability to make a major impact as a versatile, switchable defender. He has great timing and instincts on that end of the floor and is one of the best shot blockers in the state, turning away 2.6 shots a game as a junior. He has always provided value with his ability to rebound and defend, but his offensive game has come a long way over the last year, showing more confidence in his ball-handling and ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim for finishes. He may never be a major scorer at the next level, but he’s going to help a team in a major way.
