About Charlie
Expert Analysis
Daniel Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
King checks all the boxes of a tough two-way guard with good positional size and IQ. His play did all the talking in Kansas City, with shot-making and strong defense leading the way. He was a steady and constant threat from the perimeter, especially in transition, where he sprinted into open space and let it fly off the catch. An interchangeable piece offensively, he can operate from anywhere on the floor and in multiple different actions. He was effective off the ball, consistently finding openings while ghosting or popping out of ball screens and playing off advantage situations. Defensively, he was tough and versatile, using his body well and chesting up ball handlers, especially when they try to get downhill into the paint. He’s a next-level player without question — the only thing left to see is how many programs extend offers over the next few months.

showed his elite versatility throguhout this game. Charlie is absoutlelty elite at using his body to create open shots. His contact balance and decelration are both extreamly impressive. He was great in this game at attacking defenders downhill and then slamming on the breaks and using his shoulders to manufacture space. He routentily made defenders look like they were on skates becuase of this skill. And it allowed him to get to many open midrange pull ups, which he hit at a high clip. His mid range shot creation very much stood out. He operates very calmly when comes to creating these shots and he is elite at getting to his spots and rising up over defenders for tough mid range buckets. His ability to get to his spots and be such a threat to score from them, allowed him to draw many fouls in this game. His patience and use of fakes collected him many free throws, both at the rim and the interemiadte areas. He was a sniper from outside as well. His three point stroke is very fast and efficent. He can get his shot off with a hand in his face and while fading away. He hits these shots from deep range and he is a constant threat to burn you off the catch. Another thing that stood out about Charlie in this game was his high feel and cutting ability. He is always moving and is great at cutting at the right moments, catching his defender lacking and prodcuing wide open shots for himself at the rim.

lived in the paint throughout this game. He powered through contact and rumbled through the lane, carving out angles for himself to the rim, where he would finish with his soft touch and flexibility. He drew many fouls in this game because of his refusal to be kept out of the lane and also his constant activity on the offensive glass, where he converted many second-chance looks for his team. Charlie played like a bowling ball in this game, which offered him much room to pull up for jump shots. In the midrange, he was a very smooth shot creator that got to his spots and rose up for efficient looks, which he knocked down at a high clip. He also showed the ability to pull up from deep three-point range in this game. He showed that he has no problem pulling up with a hand in his face, no matter how far he is from the rim. His three-level scoring ability allowed him to create many shots for his teammates. His playmaking very much stood out, and he was an elite manipulator of the defense, with his constant use of pass fakes that moved defenders out of position and created advantages for him and his team.

King is one of the most versatile scoring threats in the 2027 class, a sharpshooter who can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor off the catch. He does a great job using the threat of his shot to open up the rest of his offensive game, creating shots off the dribble and getting to the bucket or the free-throw line at will. He’s an active defender, strong rebounder, and a skilled playmaker who can create looks for his teammates. He averaged 17.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game on 45-40-72 shooting splits and is starting to garner some real mid-major interest.

King is another big-time wing scorer who averaged 17.3 points per game to go with 7.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 steals. He’s a smooth all-around offensive weapon who can play with or without the ball in his hands, knocking down shots in bunches off the dribble or the catch. He does a nice job letting the game come to him and not forcing anything, getting his shots within the flow of the offense.
