is one of the most impressive young guards I have seen play so far this season. His deep range as a shooter is his defining skill. He can shoot off the dribble, off the catch, and while running around screens. He showcases an elite release from behind the arc because his shot is both mechanically sound and very quick. He also has no issue shooting over contests and draining jump shots even after being fouled. His threat as a shooter makes his pump fake deadly, which allows him to get downhill and pull up in the midrange, where he is very adept at scoring in both of those positions. He is a smooth shot creator and ball handler in general. However, he thrives in the midrange as a creator more often than not. He has great footwork, balance, and change of pace that allow him to shake defenders and hit tough fadeaways over their contests. One of my favorite things about him as a shot creator is how he embraces contact. He shoves through defenders and bumps them out of his way, leading to better angles for pull-ups and layups. He takes on all of these shot-creation duties while also being an elite point-of-attack defender. He allows no separation and gets many steals and blocks due to his activity on the defensive end.

Frank Lee had an all-around impactful performance in this game. For starters, Frank Lee was an absolute flamethrower from three. He showcased a very quick and fundamentally sound jump shot, which he used to make it rain from deep range. He was elite at running off of screens and pulling up from way outside, hitting tough shots with a hand in his face and finishing four-point plays from beyond the arc. His threat as a shooter created many hard closeouts from defenders, and he was great at exploiting them. He pump-faked defenders out of their shoes and stepped in for midrange jumpers while also creating advantages for his team with his downhill speed. He shook defenders off the dribble and was great at keeping his shot mechanics intact, even while spinning and fading away from defenders in the midrange. His change of pace and use of his body to create space made him a smooth shot creator. Frank was similarly impactful on the other end of the floor as well. He was a great point-of-attack defender, hounding ball handlers and not allowing penetration. He was also great at catching opponents lacking and sneaking up behind them and blocking their shot.

Lee’s speed is his biggest asset, and he uses both the asset and the threat of it to his advantage on nearly every offensive possession. He has a great first step that he uses to blow by defenders and get to the rim, where he’s a great finisher with either hand. He shoots it well off the dribble, getting to his spots in the mid-range. He’s probably more of a two-level scorer at this point, but the form on his shot looks pure and he should become a more consistent perimeter threat with repetition.
