Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Houser didn’t play varsity ball for the Dragons last season but should step into a contributing role as a junior. He’s a long, athletic wing who can score from all three levels, control the glass, and get his teammates involved. He has a good feel for the game and is a strong, physical defender.

Houser may be one of the highest upside players in the class with his combination of size, length, and athleticism. He provides versatility on the defensive end, can score from all three levels, and is a creative playmaker who sees the floor well over the defense.

Houser was a standout at our Freshman Showcase last August and I’m looking forward to seeing him play again. He didn’t see any varsity run at Johnston as a freshman, but figures to be a big part of the program’s future with his blend of length, athleticism, and three-level scoring and shot creation.

Houser is a prospect to watch down the line at Johnston. A 6’2 guard in the Class of 2027, he will be highlighted much more with this year’s team. His speed and overall athletic profile is a calling card. He slashes and creates easy scoring opportunities at the rim. A young player that’s really good at finishing through contact. He’s the 9th ranked player in the class and will turn heads as just a sophomore.

Houser is a strong and athletic wing who does a nice job absorbing contact around the rim and finishing through it. He’s a really good athlete with a great second jump that he uses to compete on the glass on both ends of the floor, and he showed some comfort with his ball handling and shot creation for his teammates, especially with a nice baseline drive in which he attacked a hard closeout, got the help defender to rotate over, and then found an open shooter at the top of the key. With his combination of size, length, and athleticism, he can provide some versatility on the defensive end. He’s quick going end-to-end with the ball in his hands, and if he’s able to add some consistent range to his game, watch out.
