was one of the primary reasons the Tigers looked like they may have had a chance to upset Fort Dodge St. Edmond in the quarterfinals.
A tall, long scorer that can play with physicality thanks to his football background, the Gaels struggled to keep him out of the paint. On top of his ability to put the ball on the floor and finish over rim-protectors in the middle, Blum can step out and shoot it, too. Leading all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-19 shooting, Blum was forced to put up as many shots as possible in the second half, attempting to will Woodbine back into the game. Adding 11 rebounds, Blum finished with a double-double.

The 6-5 wing is one of the best athletes in the state’s 2027 class, a standout on the gridiron who holds several Power 5 offers. He’ll be making his third state tournament trip this season, but it’ll be his first trip as the go-to player for Woodbine. He’s averaging 20.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.0 steals per game, using his length, size, and athleticism to control games on both ends of the floor.

scored at every level in this game. He was great as a three-point shooter, both off the catch and the bounce. He displayed a very fluid and fast jumper that he could rise into at any moment and make his defender pay. His ball handling perfectly played into this skill, as he was able to break down defenders one-on-one and create space for pull-up jumpshots. He hit these shots at a high clip and made them from all around the court. The midrange was another area where he barely missed. At the rim, he was just as efficient. Both as a driver and post scorer, he routinely shook his matchup and created high-percentage looks for himself, and with his soft touch, he rarely missed. He was a great leader of the offense because of this, as he drew much attention from Madrid’s defense. He used his scoring gravity to collapse the defense and kick out to shooters, creating many wide-open three-pointers for his team off of his own shot creation.

uses his size effectively on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot-5 junior can muscle his way inside against smaller interior players in 1A basketball, using his athleticism and length to score and defend the rim. Standing out like a sore thumb amongst 1A competition, Blum is one of the bigger players on the court no matter where or who he plays against.
He uses that same athleticism and size to shoot the rock on the perimeter with a smooth stroke. Give him an inch, and he’ll take a mile offensively, whether it’s attacking the rim or launching from deep.
