Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the forwards who took advantage of the big stage on it’s first day. Read on for Forward Standouts from Day 1.
The still available Dalton finished with a respectable 14 and 10 in their loss to Grayson. A 6-foot-8 Small colleges would be wise to get eyes on him before he opts for the JuCo or Prep route,
Hall has burst onto the scene as he’s help lead Plano East to a 40-0 record coming into Day 1. the versatile 6-foot-7 forward can shoot it from range as well as rebound and score on the block. He’s an intriguing forward that colleges should take a look at this Spring.
Taylor had a double-double with 12 points (on 6 shots) and 10 rebounds. A skilled big man who can score around the rim and who’s a plus passer for his size, Taylor has the skill to be a modern four or small ball five man.
A newer name in the class of 2025, it figures to be a busy Spring for Fort. A bouncy 4/5 man who can score around the rim and has good hands and a great motor, Fort ultimately ended up leading Jackson-Reed in both scoring and rebounding with 17 and 9 respectively.
Colleges looking for a big man who can score from the high post or bully his way to the rim down low, Pretty could fill either role. He was instrumental in keeping Alijah Curry relatively quiet throughout while finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds himself.
With O’Connell very shorthanded through the week, big man Steve Huan Steve Huan 6’10” | C Bishop O’Connell | 2025 State VA stepped up. At 6-foot-11 he has good touch around the rim, runs the floor, and flashed some shooting ability as well. He finished with 14 points and 5 rebounds
Simply put, there’s no one as consistently productive at a higher level in 2025 than Boozer to this point. He finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in their first round victory. At 6-foot-9 he sees and thinks the game at incredibly high level, often making the right pass or scoring off of offensive rebounds.
Allmond just missed out on a double, getting 8 points and 8 rebounds in their loss to The Vale. He also had 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 2 assists, and once he gets a little stronger and more explosive, he should solidify himself as one of the premier big men in his class.
