It doesn’t take long to see why Steve Huan is one of the top unsigned bigs prospect in the DMV. At 6-foot-10, the mobile put an impressive stat line against a talented Mount Carmel team posting 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, showed solid presence down low. Huan is an incredibly fluid athlete with an impressive skillset for his size/position. He handles the ball, creates well for himself and others off the bounce, and mixes it up as a scorer from all levels. Huan is clearly at his best when attacking downhill but is more than capable of knocking down jumpers from midrange or beyond the arc. He’s a switchable defender whose size, length, and instincts make him a real problem for opponents. Huan is also a useful rebounder who can effortlessly grab boards and push the break in transition. Given his combination of intangibles, physical tools, and two-way versatility, it’s easy to see the young man be colleges list this basketball season.

Huan, similar to his brother Sinan, is one of the more intriguing prospect in the 2026 local class. Steven has the upper hand when it comes to polished skill on the perimeter whereas Sinan is a more effective presence around the rim. Steven’s move to St. Andrew’s should pay dividends for head coach Kevin Jones as he can be used as an offensive hub at the top of the key or high-post area and be trusted as a decision-maker. All of this isn’t to say that Steven isn’t just as much of a lob threat as Sinan and as he showed over the summer, he has dependable hands, ability to adjust in the air and the power to finish with authority when he connects with the rim. It’ll be good to see how he fits in early on within their rotation and playing alongside

-Really liked the patience throughout the game from Huan, passing really well out of double and triple teams in the paint to his shooters on the perimeter. He also showed how diverse his skillset is–finishing with thunderous putback dunks around the basket, showing a soft touch on hook shots in the key, hitting corner 3s, scoring well through contact in transition, and utilizing his pivot well to cover ground in the key. Had a really nice sequence where he drilled a corner 3, caught and finished a 2-handed flush in traffic, and took a steal coast to coast before laying it up with his inside hand for an AND1 basket that put the game out of reach. Really skilled prospect with a ton of upside, should continue to turn heads down the stretch run of the season and in AAU.

-Huan has been a steadying and consistent presence for a young Sandy Spring team that needs his interior and perimeter scoring. The handle has continued to smoothen to allow him to get past his matchup with only a dribble or two from the perimeter to the rim, and he is starting to knock down perimeter jumpers off the bounce as well as off the catch. A willing passer that locates his shooters out of double teams, his skillset at that size makes him a name to know in the 2026 class.

Steven Huan was one of two Huan brothers who impressed me. At 7 feet tall, Steven’s ability to put the ball on the floor is terrific, and he knocks down spot-up threes. He plays the modern game you want for a tall big with his build, and defensively, he does a great job protecting the rim. Steven finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks in a Sandy Springs win.

This long and lanky big man can really run the floor, block shots on defensive end and snare rebounds off the glass. He is raw offensive, which points to a big upside but did a nice job catching, finishing in traffic and spacing the floor. Played better in the 2nd half of the Bishop Loughlin game after getting feel for a pace/speed of the game. Definitely a underclassmen big man to monitor!

Steven Huan showcased a lot vs Frederick. At 6’10, Steven showed his ability to put the ball on the floor and drive to the rim, and he also knocked down a few jump shots. Steven had an impressive block in the first quarter, where he pinned the ball on the backboard. Steven is an elite prospect and finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

-A W/F tweener with a growing perimeter skillset, Huan will have a much bigger role with Sandy Spring as a prospect that can shoot, pass, and finish well around the basket. The handle and first step are still a bit raw, but Huan makes good decisions with the basketball in his hands and makes moves well off the ball as a C+S or roll target. Adding in his shot-blocking and defensive rebounding abilities will bolster a scrappy SSFS defense.
