The question with Peterson has never been one surrounding upside, potential, or athleticism. The biggest factor for him entering his senior season will be availability. Peterson missed most of the high school season as a junior and while he had some loud moments throughout the spring/summer with DC Premier on the UAA Circuit, he’ll need to piece together a body of work this winter in order to gain traction among Division I programs. The signs so far this fall have been optimistic as the 6-foot-8 high-flyer has been a legitimate lob threat in transition where he can play well above the rim in those scenarios. He’s had spurts of playing out of short rolls with productivity, blips as a violent shot-blocker protecting the rim, and more of a willingness to clean the glass. Again, if he provides consistent results, there is no reason why a list of schools shouldn’t be vying for his services

Peterson is packed with athletic pop and untapped potential that makes him one of the more intriguing names that remain available in the DMV. When he’s on the floor with a focused mindset, it results in emphatic lobs or plays around the rim that demand your attention. When he’s approaching the glass with pride, he can do what he did on Sunday and average a near double-double of 17 points and nine boards while altering several attempts around the bucket. As long as the frontline of both he and Steven Huan can remain healthy, they’ll be quite the duo for head coach Kevin Jones this season.

-Athetically, Peterson has gotten to a different level over the summer as a leaper with a great frame. The athleticism was apparent on putback dunks, his end-to-end speed in transition, lob finishes, backdoor cuts, dunking off a drop step, and completing a chasedown block from the weakside. Peterson also hit the glass heavy on both ends of the floor, was way more efficient and assertive with his dribble moves– jab and a sweep blow-by to the rim, pump fake sweep through, etc. A softer touch has improved his in-between game with floaters in the paint after snagging an offensive board. Peterson will step into a big role as a switchable W/F prospect that can plug some holes for the Lions defensively as a wing defender that can also body up with most HS forwards to force tough shots.

had an efficient day for St. Andrews. He was particularly impressive against Miller in their second game. Jayson did all of his work as a driver and on post-ups. Jayson is strong and very skilled. Miller had no answer for him, and he played a near-perfect offensive game. He went a combined 14/18 for the day and finished with 32 points.
