Continue ReadingDynamic scoring guard can fill it up in bunches from all 3 levels night in and night out– and he did exactly that this weekend. The highly-touted New World guard drew a foul in OT and hit 2 FTs that put NW up for good, winning eventually by 4. His perimeter wiggle and quick shifting gears make it really difficult not only to stay in front but be able to time a contest when he shoots it. Advanced step through, up n unders, fade away, pivot moves– has an advanced scoring bag that has extended out past the 3 point line as he is hitting shots off the bounce from deep now too.
Hillsman was so dynamic athletically for New Heights Lightning, finishing an alley-oop above the square and showing off the bounce on two weakside blocks. The microskills of knowing when to cut, when to come off a screen, how to find open gaps in the defense, seeing man and ball defensively– the instincts accentuate the athletic ability to form a fairly well-rounded player. Interested to see if he develops into a 3+D wing or continues to add to the ball skills to become more of a jumbo creator from the wing.
D’allesandro has now reclassified to 2026 and is complimenting his teammates well on a pretty good 16u Thrill group. He is a prolific 3 point shooter, gets to every 50/50 ball, comes up with rebounds in traffic, sees the floor well and finds his teammates from the wing. The intangibles and willingness to do the dirty work make him an extremely valuable part of this team that has some high-level scorers. Interested to track his development this summer with Team Thrill and with a new environment at the Miller School.
Egbiremolen is an intriguing 2-way prospect that has taken strides as a ballhandler and driver to really thrive in the paint. Strong frame, good lateral mobility, leaper– he possesses all the physical tools you could want in a modern 2/3. Set shot is starting to fall at a more consistent rate and his finishing bag around the rim has improved, but the defensive versatility to be able to lock up 1-4 at the HS level is what makes him valuable at this level and the next
Although his team struggled in this opening weekend, McDuffie played the game the right way on both ends of the floor throughout each contest. In the late Sunday slate he had a deep 3, 2 transition layups, 4 assists, 2 steal and 1 block–all in the first half. His ability to thrive on the ball as a creator and off the ball as a shooter will make him a hot commodity as he continues to go through growth spurts. Want to see him put more weight on his frame and become more assertive on the ball, with a retreat dribble before attacking the defender again after his path has been cut off the first time.
