Here is a set of rankings that may never be truly settled, but still give insight into how teams stack up across the different classifications. I'll update this a few times throughout the season, but for now, here are the preseason Top 20 teams across the state.

1. O'Dea

They have depth and talent spread across every position. Lost in the 3A title game last season but have returned a ton of guys and added a couple of impact players.

2. Garfield

The defending 3A champs still have [player_tooltip player_id='1450985' first='Legend' last='Smiley'] but have also added a couple of big names to their team and always have some underclassmen ready to emerge.

3. Mt Si

They've been on the cusp of the pinnacle for a few years now and boast a lot of athleticism up front, with experienced guard play leading the way.

4. Eastside Catholic

The top player in the state leads the Crusaders who have more than enough depth and talent to make a run at a state title this season.

5. Tahoma

A team that shares the ball, has size up front and on the wings, and spaces out the floor with shooting. Tahoma won 19 games last year and should make noise again this winter.

6. Bellevue

They don't have too much size up front but make up for that with long, athletic wings, to go along with some heady guards and more than a few explosive offensive players.

7. Rainier Beach

They have one of the top offensive threats in [player_tooltip player_id='1850299' first='Kaden' last='Powers'] and added a low-post threat in [player_tooltip player_id='1598394' first='Dominik' last='Robinson']. Also have a few players in the backcourt with playmaking and 3-point shooting. They have the talent to make some noise and climb to the top of the 3A.

8. Davis

This group has been together for a long time. They have multiple guys who can go get a bucket, a stable of 3-point shooters, and some length up front to rebound and defend.

9. Mountlake Terrace

The Hawks proved a tough out at last year's tournament and are one of the better defensive units in the state. They have quick guards and some decent 3-point shooters, not to mention the hard-to-contain [player_tooltip player_id='1450489' first='Zaveon' last='Jones'] who makes a killing around the paint.

10. Annie Wright

The first and only 1A team in the top 20, Annie Wright has shown they can play no matter what the classification is. Their two guards lead the way as some of the top players in their class but don't overlook the surrounding cast. They have a lot of players who can make plays and cement them as one of the top teams in the state.

11. Mt Spokane

A lot will ride on [player_tooltip player_id='1450491' first='Ryan' last='Lafferty']'s shoulders but Mt Spokane has a group of heady players in the backcourt and on the wings who can take care of the ball and shoot pretty well. They're a well-coached team that entered last year's 3A tournament as the top seed.

12. Camas

An electric backcourt with guys who can score inside and out. They also have versatility up front and pushed their way to a sixth-place finish at State last season. Still need to see more of the other guys for the Papermakers who lost three key starters from last season's team.

13. Gonzaga Prep

Another team that will replace a few starters from last year, the Bullpups have talent across the board with a bunch of juniors and sophomores stepping up this season. We'll see if the combo of [player_tooltip player_id='1631543' first='Hudson' last='Floyd'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1450501' first='Henry' last='Sandberg'] can lead them back to another top-6 finish at state this year.

14. Richland

The Bombers lost some key role guys from last season but still have one of the strongest top fours in the state. They had their ups and downs at State last year but have all the talent to make a run in the 4A.

15. Auburn

Not a lot of size up front, but the Trojans are still a scrappy team that played Garfield tough in the 3A semis last year. They're led by [player_tooltip player_id='1451033' first='Jaylen' last='Petty'], [player_tooltip player_id='1450496' first='Luvens' last='Valcin'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1984463' first='Carter' last='Hansen'], all of whom play tough on both ends of the floor.

16. Auburn Mountainview

The Lions got to State last season but we're knocked out early. They have some interesting pieces that could push for a league title this season along with a deeper run at State.

17. North Central

I just saw them play Eastside Catholic pretty well, albeit they never really threatened to take the game from the Crusaders. That being said, they have the talent to be a team that puts it together and gets on a roll this year. They have a ton of size and athleticism along with some emerging role guys.

18. Gig Harbor

The Tides have two of the top frontcourt guys in the 3A who bring a lot of physicality and skill to the floor. While there is a lot to like about this team with [player_tooltip player_id='1984467' first='Cole' last='Browne'] leading the attack, there is still a lot of turnover from a year ago. We'll have to wait and see, but they certainly have the talent to make a run.

19. North Kitsap

With two of the most dominant players in the 2A, they are one of the favorites to win it all this season. They've also added point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1485661' first='Jordan' last='Williams'] from Curtis who is another offensive threat. They have a few glue guys that come up big for them and will be in the conversation all year.

20. Lynden

Two-time repeating champions of the 2A, the Lynden Lions just get the job done. They have a couple of really talented guys in [player_tooltip player_id='1696692' first='Brant' last='Heppner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1450490' first='Anthony' last='Canales'] who are used to the big stage. Lynden is another one of the 2A favorites, as they search for their third straight 2A title.
