The best out-of-state prospect goes to Carter Cohen from North Creek HS in Bothell, WA. Cohen, who stands at 6-foot-11, is one of the tallest prospects in the Pacific Northwest. Carter impressed us with his agility for his size and rebounding skills both offensively and defensively. He could also get up and down the court quite well, being a threat for alley-oops in transition. A couple of weeks ago, he received an offer from Portland State after performing well on the Under Armour Circuit with Seattle Select.

Cohen has the potential to be one of the top players in his class with his combination of size, shooting, and athleticism. He’s been showing just what that complete package can look like with Seattle Select this spring. He’s had all the exciting plays that highlight his dynamic skill set; blocking shots, hitting threes, and big dunks in transition. But he’s also shown growth in more subtle ways, like better positional awareness on defense, the ability to defend ball screens in different ways, and the ability to get a rebound and push the ball up the court himself.

Cohen looks primed for a true breakout campaign in his junior year. He’s shown a lot flashes of some elite skills as a stretch big, but this year he has come out of the gates looking to dominate. He’s sitting at 17.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while adding in 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks. And while he has looked stronger and more confident in just about every facet of the game, the biggest improvement seems to have come from behind the 3-point line. He already shot 48% behind the arc last season, but that came on just 52 attempts. This season he has already taken 21 attempts through four games and has two games with four 3PM, a mark he failed to hit at all last season. But more importantly than the early season numbers, his shot has more fluidity and you can tell he feels good about it, knocking in several shots from deep against Eastlake with defenders right up on him.

Carter is a player who is going to be a big name prospect in the class of 2026. He’s 6’8″ and moves super well for his size. He runs the court well and has improved his jumper and dribbling abilities. His shot from deep was already impressive given his size, but now he knocks down deep shots with ease. Cohen plays aggressively in the paint and isn’t afraid to get on the court for a loose ball.

Previous Rank: 29rnCohen got some good varsity minutes last season, mostly contributing as a stretch forward and with his interior play on the glass, but he’s added quite a bit to his game since then. Cohen still needs to get a little stronger inside with his back to the hoop or getting second-chance buckets, but his aggression and fight can’t be questioned. He’s still a threat to hit from 3-point but also gets out in transition and is not someone you want to get in front of when he’s charging the rim. At 6-foot-8, he’s shown some nice rim defense too and should have ample opportunity this winter.
