Landers is at a new home in Middletown and the Middles are in the middle of the pack in a tight GMC conference race. Landers has been impressive this season at scoring the basketball, 12.8 PPG shooting 38% from 3-point range. Landers is dangerous when attacking downhill with the ball in his hands and can pull-up in your face as well. For Landers, the biggest development for him will be becoming a point guard instead of a combo guard. With 3.0 turnovers and 1.9 assists per game, Landers will look to flip those numbers as he matures as a guard. This is one of the most talented guards in SW Ohio’s 2025 class and Landers has the skills to move up the rankings with the proper development over the next few years.
Perkins was a top performer at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Columbus and followed that up with a great showing for Huber Heights Wayne at the All-Ohio Preview event at Reynoldsburg to open up the high school regular season. Perkins is shooting lights out from 3-point range this season at 48% on almost 4 attempts per game. Perkins will need to become more of a threat at the rim and inside the arc, he’s shooting just 2-15 inside the 3-point line this season. Getting stronger and more confident finishing at the rim will help Perkins boost his PPG numbers that currently sit around 7 per game.
Highlights
A two-sport stud from the Columbus city league, Griffin is one of the top football players and guards in the conference. I love Griffin’s shiftiness with the ball in his hands, using some of his football make people miss talents on the hardwood. As a shooter, Griffin can get hot from the outside and has already has some big scoring games this winter. Undersized for sure, but there are few guards in 2025 who are as fast and have the microwave ability like Griffin.
McClure was a late addition to the rankings, standing out at the Gussler invitational about a week ago that earned him a spot in our rankings. We recently broke down his game but McClure is adept at using his body despite being a shorter guard, he makes up for it with core strength and skill with the ball in his hands. McClure and CJ Collins CJ Collins 6’2″ | CG Marysville | 2025 State OH make a dangerous backcourt for the future as the Shamrocks look to build with a younger group this season.
The final new guard added to our rankings, Cam Williams Cam Williams 6’2″ | CG Elder | 2025 State OH is another prospect who recently stood out at an all day event and gets added to the rankings based on that performance. Playing for one of the top teams in SW Ohio, Williams is the only underclassmen getting heavy minutes for the Panthers right now. Williams is a good defender, which has allowed him to get playing time on a senior laden squad. I was impressed with how Williams passed the ball and ran the show for Elder but the game I caught was his only game with 3+ assists so far this season, so I’d like to see that continue throughout the rest of the season. Look for Williams to be a key piece for Elder next season and make some timely plays during their conference title push in the stacked GCL-South.
