While the class is being recruited at a high level, there are some players who are slipping through the cracks. Here’s a look at some 2024s who are being under recruited at this time.
Jacob was one of the most valuable small school players in Kentucky last season and is on the short list of best Juniors in Louisville. His recruitment has been quiet thus far but there is no doubt that the 6’4 wing has the athleticism and shooting to make it at the scholarship level. Colleges should take note as Hand is a bit of a hidden gem in the 502.
Gibson is a polished post scorer and a fantastic passer who would be getting recruited by every D1 program in the tri-state if he were 3 inches taller. As it stands, Will is the type of player who it takes multiple viewings to appreciate his toughness and how he impacts the game every night out. Look for D2 and low D1 schools to monitor Will this season.
Highlights
Athletically, Elijah has the tools to compete with the best of the best. The 6’5 wing has had unfortunate injury issues thus far in his high school career and could breakout this season if he is 100% healthy for the whole season. Look out for Decker to be one of those players who comes from off the radar to snag multiple offers by this time next year.
It’s hard for Lyon County players not named Travis to get a lot of love from colleges these days but Brady could earn his fair share of college looks before graduation day if his game continues to evolve the way it has. Looking ahead to his Junior season, Shoulders’ stats should benefit the most from his older brother’s graduation. Look for nightly double doubles from Shoulders.
One of the issues for players in far west Kentucky is that you only see them once or twice a year unless you make the trip to them. Bateman looked like a top 10 2024 in Kentucky upon first viewing in his freshman season. Derrell still has those same physical tools but he needs to live in the gym and increase his shooting percentages from range or he’ll end up being an undersized post. If he can get his shot right, there aren’t many better 2024 wings in the state.
