One of the best available prospects in the state, Bateman is putting up huge numbers and making a case to be a first team all state selection. Averaging 27 points and 13 rebounds per game so far this season, Derrell holds several offers but is hungry for a D1 offer.

Bateman is one of the most underrated players in the state. He’s got plenty of offers and looks like the kind of prospect who will go Juco and emerge as a good D1 player in 2 years. He and Williams are interchangeable in this list, in my opinion.

Derrell Bateman Derrell Bateman 6'4" | SF Christian County | 2024 State KY is high-flyer. He’s difficult to stop at the rim due to his athleticism and explosiveness. Bateman also has a strong frame that gives him another advantage when trying to finish through traffic. As a junior, he averaged a double-double with 17.5 points and 10 rebounds a game. Not only is he a great scorer, but he’s mastered rebounding at a high level. 17 games resulted in double-digit rebounds for Derrell last season.

Another one of the top athletes at the event, Bateman had a full highlight reel of dunks on Saturday with his explosiveness off the ground. A power wing athlete who looked to get all the way to the rim, Bateman is tough to stop with a head of steam. Already holding offers from Kentucky Christian, Georgetown, Campbellsville and Columbia State, Bateman looked like a scholarship level athlete on Saturday.

A big stock riser in this round of updates, Bateman had a good showing in the Kentucky-Indiana Junior All Star game and rode that momentum into multiple offers this summer. Derrell is a physical wing who can finish through contact and is capable of rebounding the ball at a super high level.

One problem we have with Prep Hoops is that there isn’t a ton of coverage in far Western Kentucky. Finally getting eyes on Bateman again, he rose from 37th to 16th in this update. Improved as a shooter, Derrell plays with a tremendous motor and had almost 20 rebounds for the Junior All Star team in June. He’s earned multiple NAIA offers and should see more coming his way.

One of the biggest question marks around Bateman as a prospect has been if he can shoot the ball or not. I watched him hit multiple threes against Evangel on Friday and his form looked good while doing so. His college position is still a little up in the air but Derrell makes winning plays and plays super hard. That alone helped him to impress plenty of schools this weekend.

Bateman has been an impact player for Christian County for a few years now and averaged a double-double with 18 and 10 this season. Possibly one of the biggest sleeper prospects in the state, Derrell shot 44% from three this season and showed he is a true three level scorer. He’s an interesting one to track this spring and summer.
