He is a load in the post for Garfield and led them with 23 points on 9-14 shooting in the win over Beach. Not many can match up with his size and strength in the post. He has good footwork and finishes well around the basket. This is a Garfield team that should be a favorite in Class 3A right now. With the next two players listed and

Whenever McCullum gets subbed out, you can’t help but think it’s the other team getting a breather rather than McCullum. He seems to have gotten even stronger than last season and grown an inch or two on top of that. He was incredibly efficient all tournament and capped off Garfield’s 4-0 run with back-to-back double-double’s, including a 30-point performance in the championship game. In the paint, he is what you call an immovable object. He snatched 3-plus offensive boards three times this tournament, including two games with 5, and more often than not puts ball right back in the hoop.

McCullum Jr. is one of the top rebounders in the state and combines that with Charmin soft touch around the rim. He plays with a hunger and forcefulness in the paint that leads to lots of trip to the line and extra possessions for his team. He’s a double-double threat night after night and is a key piece to a team with title dreams.

The second half of their frontcourt duo last season, McCullum plays a huge role for the Bulldogs with his physicality and relentless pursuit of the ball around the rim. He controls the glass, powers up shots at the rim, and can hit the mid-range when defenders decide to sink in. Garfield relies heavily on him to win the battle at the basket on both sides of the floor.

No. 2 | It is tough for teams to match up with one top forward, let alone two. McCullum is the thunder of the Garfield pair, bringing a physical edge to the Bulldogs and a relentless presence in the paint. He has outstanding hands and is an offensive rebounding machine. There will be no easy buckets around this guy next season.
