Expert Analysis
Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Finau has already been a big stock riser in the 2027 class since coming up from Utah before last season. He’s an incredibly well-rounded prospect who has the skills to play inside and out, scoring, rebounding, defending, and even doing a little playmaking. But what really stands out is his process and decision-making. He’s been picking his spots well, doesn’t force too much, is a willing passer and teammate, and has been a pretty efficient scorer because he’s willing to work for good shots.

The Bothell sophomore is a highly skilled combo forward who has a diverse offensive profile and has shown he can defend multiple positions. He possesses a smooth stroke out to 3-point range, works well on the face-up from the mid-post and the blocks, and has been pretty impressive defending bigger guys down low. He’s a good decision-maker, picks his spots well, and is an efficient scorer. He shot 50% from the field, made 38% of his 3PT attempts, and shot 75% at the line while grabbing 8.1 rpg and averaging 2.8 stocks.

Finau was exceptional in a win over Kamiak without the benefit of having teammate Jaylen McLaughlin Jaylen McLaughlin 6'4" | PG Bothell | 2027 State #196 Nation WA out there with him. There were several moments throughout the game Finau looked like the best player on the floor. His ability to pick and pop or work off the dribble and get to his spots at 6-foot-7 is very impressive. He was a tough matchup for Kamiak and complimented that midrange game with some toughness around the rim.

Finau comes over to Bothell from Utah and gives the Cougars a versatile presence with some size who can operate from different spots. He has the quickness to beat bigger players with a good first step and can exploit defenders who sag off with a pretty smooth midrange shot. He’s also a guy who is going to go after shots on the defensive end and should play a big role for Bothell this winter.
