Uvwo was named EYBL Defensive Player of the Year, and for good reason. He established himself as the top rim protector in the class of 2027 while competing against some of the best talent in high school basketball. Uvwo has outstanding timing as a shot blocker and never hesitates to challenge attempts at the rim. His recovery ability is exceptional, allowing him to erase mistakes and make life difficult for opposing scorers. In any given game, he is capable of putting up double digit blocks and completely changing the game defensively.

Finishing one rebound shy of a triple double, Uwvo is probably the most dominant shot blocker in the country. His combination of timing, length, and explosiveness is incredible and Uvwo does a nice job of not fouling when going up for the block. Uvwo has ascended to five star status this summer after not playing significant minutes at the high school level as a junior, an incredible rise to the top of his class.

The 6-foot-10 center leads EYBL in blocked shots per game (4.9) and alters countless more shots or thoughts of shots around the basket. Offensively, Uvwo is best as a lob threat in transition or half-court situations and runs the floor with energy, effort and purpose.

A prospect whose stock has skyrocketed this offseason, Uvwo continued his breakout offseason campaign by averaging 9.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game for Nightrydas Elite in Las Vegas. The athletic frontcourt prospect plays with a relentless motor, high level rim protection and has an ability to finish efficiently around the basket.

Playing for the Nightrydas on Nike’s EYBL circuit, he averaged over 10 points, 8 rebounds, and an impressive 5 blocks per game, consistently impacting games on both ends of the floor. Uvwo possesses elite size, length, and physical tools, but what truly separates him is his activity level and motor. An outstanding rim protector, he moves his feet exceptionally well for a player his size, covers ground defensively, and changes countless shots around the basket. Offensively, he is a dangerous lob threat who finishes above the rim with ease and displays soft touch around the basket. His combination of size, mobility, defensive presence, and upside has quickly elevated him into the conversation among the top centers in the country.

He runs the floor well, competes on the glass, and uses his length to keep plays alive at both ends. A capable shot changer in the paint at the defensive end, he shows a willingness to establish position and score on the block, along with soft touch around the basket. Expect high level college programs to continue tracking this improving big man.

One of the fastest rising 2027 prospects nationally, Uvwo was a player who NBA scouts couldn’t stop talking about this weekend. One of the top rim protectors in the country, Uvwo has special physical tools that allow him to explode at the rim and swat shots. Uvwo flew over from one side of the rim to the other to send away a driver at the rim, showing that even when you think he might be taken out of the play he can still make a play on the basketball. As a scorer, Uvwo did almost all of his damage in the paint where he had a couple dunks and putback layups off missed shots. Uvwo packed the stat sheet in the game I caught with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks. Expect to be hearing a lot about Uvwo over the next 12 months.

A player who has shined in limited minutes, Uvwo is still a major project and needs lots of further development to reach his ceiling. With that being said, the upside for Uvwo is through the roof. Look for Uvwo to become a household name across the country this summer.
