Florida Prospects With Elite Defensive Upside

Defense can change the outcome of a game just as quickly as scoring, and these five prospects have been proving that throughout the summer. With their combination of length, mobility, rim protection, and defensive instincts, each has shown the potential to become a major impact defender at the next level.    Uvwo was named EYBL Defensive Player of the Year, and for good reason. He established himself as the top rim protector in the class of 2027 while competing against some of the best talent in high school basketball. Uvwo has outstanding timing as a shot blocker and never hesitates to challenge attempts at the rim. His recovery ability is exceptional, allowing him to erase mistakes and make life difficult for opposing scorers. In any given game, he is capable of putting up double digit blocks and completely changing the game defensively.     Nyok is known as an elite lob threat, but his defensive impact may be just as valuable. Standing at 7'0, his length alone forces opponents to think twice before attacking the basket. He has good hands, covers a tremendous amount of ground around the rim, and serves as a constant deterrent in the paint. Nyok has continued to attract Division I attention throughout the summer, and his defensive upside is a major reason why.     Hill provides value on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he can stretch the court with his shooting and attack off the dribble as his handle has continued to improve. Defensively, his combination of a stronger frame and 6'10 length allows him to anchor the paint. Hill competes physically around the basket while also having the mobility to impact plays outside the paint. His growth on both ends has been evident throughout the summer.     Deng has looked every bit like one of the top prospects in the class of 2030. While his offensive skill set is impressive, his motor and defensive activity stand out just as much. Deng moves his feet well on the perimeter and consistently creates deflections that lead to turnovers. His ability to guard in space, combined with his relentless energy, gives him tremendous defensive upside moving forward.     Riak continues to develop into a eye catching prospect. At 6'10, he has expanded his offensive game and become more comfortable as a perimeter shooter, but his length remains one of his biggest strengths. Riak protects the rim well and uses his size to alter shots around the basket. He also runs the floor effectively in transition and finishes above the rim. With an offer already from Jacksonville and more attention coming his way, Riak's potential continues to grow.
