Carey Smith | Prep Hoops Scout
On a TFR squad that is filled with bucket getters, Mason is the maestro responsible for directing the show and spreading the rock around. At EYCL S2, Mason’s speed, slick handles and court vision enabled him to blow past defenders on the fast break and in the half-court. Once he was below the arc, Mason delivered well-timed passes to slashing teammates, the dunker spot and spot up shooters. When he was looking to score on those paint touches, Mason unleashed tear drops, kissed runners off the glass and popped mid-range jumpers. Plus, Mason flashed a smooth three-point stroke that was especially accurate off the bounce.

Mason is a quick backcourt prospect who owns an Allen Iverson-esque crossover move. That crossover, combined with the rest of his off the dribble bag, enable Mason to get into the paint with ease. Once he is in the lane, Mason can get to the rim for lay-ins or hit runners and floaters. Mason is also skilled at kicking out to shooters on the arc. This 2027 also owns an accurate jumper with range well beyond the 3-point line. Mason’s speed, finishing skills and quick decision make him a serious open court threat too. The highlight of Mason’s 2024-25 regular season was a fantastic 24 points and 5 rebounds performance against Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Mason is a quick twitch athlete with elusive handles. In the half-court, that combination enables Mason to blow past his defenders with the dribble and get into the paint for scores or kick out dimes. Those same assets also make Mason a transition phenom who can push the rock for buckets or assists. Mason can score at every level, but college coaches will really love his court vision and creative distribution skills. His live dribble passing is especially impressive as is Mason’s ability to slip passes to teammates through double teams.

Mason was one of the breakout stars from the Post & Pivot Summer League and we are eager to watch him return to action with his high school team. He is a ridiculously quick guard with one of the filthiest crossovers in SEPA. Once Mason has blown past his defender and gotten into the lane, he can unleash floaters or get to the rim for lay-ins. Mason is also a respectable 3-point shooter with deep range. As a bonus, Mason is a creative distributor who excels at drive-n-kick plays as well as live dribble passing on the fast break.
