Laz was an instant spark off the bench. Much like Hyland, Mason did a great job making the extra pass. His swing passes were on the money and had just enough zip to where they couldn’t be intercepted. Mason buried a corner three and provided activity on defense.

Mason is a role player for Grayson because of how loaded with talent they are but he’s now proving to people that he can be a real weapon as an on-ball guard. His three-ball was torching defenses on Saturday, hitting a variety of step-backs, pull-ups, and spot-up jumpers. With Gicarri Harris Gicarri Harris 6'4" | CG Grayson | 2024 State #86 Nation GA heading to Europe in June, Mason should step in and play a major role with Grayson this month.

Fit and usage are often a concern for many when choosing an AAU team and things couldn’t have worked out better for Laz Mason. He’s emerged as a primary playmaker for the Canes and has been able to show what he can do as the point guard, something we didn’t see enough at Grayson. Mason is a twitchy ball-handler that can dissect defenses and kill teams from inside-out when he gets in the paint. He’s a name that coaches should be writing down for the next live periods.

Laz Mason had a strong showing on Saturday and has been a popular name thus far in camp season. The combo guard from Grayson had some really impressive passes in transition and racked up several assists on the day. He’s got a nice change of speed to his dribble and he handles it well. Watching Mason play, it’s clear that he just loves to compete. He wants to be on the court, playing against the best. His dawg mentality is very on par with this Wood Elite program so it would be a fun pairing to see them together next spring.
