I think the top performance of the night regardless of how many points was scores was from Pike senior guard Ian Macon Ian Macon 6'0" | PG Pike | 2026 State IN . With Pike’s stars struggling just a tad, it was the underrated Macon who stepped up in many ways leading to him having a tied team-high 14 points. He made the game-winning play with his steal at the end of the game to advance Pike.

The nationally ranked, high-major prospects get a lot of the publicity at Pike High School and rightfully so. However, the other guys they play in the games are all good small college prospects as well. Macon fits into that mold for sure as a highly productive guard. The quick, shifty playmaker scored 14 points on Thursday night as the Red Devils moved to 16-3 with a hard-fought 56-53 win over Ben Davis.

This was my first time getting to see the lefty-handed senior guard and he is the one I walked away impressed with the most. Shifty guard that pushes the pace, but understands the importance of changing speeds. Electric in transition with good court vision and a knack for scoring in a variety of different ways. Showed the ability to stop on a dime and rise up from three in transition. He plays with a ton of confidence and will be a huge part of the backcourt this season.

There is a ton of talent within the Pike High School program right now. With so much attention paid to their nationally ranked Division I prospects it can be easy for the other pieces to fly a bit under-the-radar. Macon is absolutely a college-level guard that should continue to get small college interest throughout his senior season. The super quick and shifty playmaker emerged as a consistent contributor last season averaging 6.5 points per game as a junior.

We discussed Macon early in the week when we had the opportunity to see Hoopmatics 17u play, but he continued to deliver throughout the week/weekend in Rock Hill. The lightening quick 5’11” left-handed point guard had no issue winning one-on-one battles off of the dribble and getting paint touches. Once he got into the lane, Macon finished with a variety of floaters and crafty layups against size while also getting to the foul line frequently. The rising senior at Pike High School finished the event averaging an impressive 12.8 points per game. He proved that his quickness and ball-handling ability translates to the highest levels.

For a smaller guard, Macon is absolutely unafraid of taking it right at larger defenders. He was comfortable handling the pace, pressure, and athleticism thrown at him against Power 5 17u on Wednesday afternoon. Macon consistently won one-on-one matchups off of the bounce and had success in the lane finishing with a floater over bigger defenders or getting to the free throw line where he converted at a high percentage. The left-handed guard played very well for Hoopmatics 17u against a high-level opponent.

There is a ton of talent at Pike High School, and they only got more talented over the course of this summer, but Macon proved that he deserved a role as a junior averaging 6.5 points per game. Macon’s quickness with the ball in his hands is what really separates him from his peers. The offense operates at a different pace when he is inserted into the game and it is very difficult for opponents to stay in front of the ball in one-on-one situations. The 6’0″ rising senior guard is an under-the-radar name for small college coaches to keep an eye on.
