I absolutely love Avery-Turner’s game. The 6-foot-5 wing has good size, length, and strength for his position, but he also has a super well-rounded skillset. He made 6 threes in his first scrimmage, showcasing a pretty shot release and loads of confidence. But he can also use his athleticism and quickness to drive into the paint and finish against the trees or smaller guards/wings. Most impressive, though, is Avery-Turner’s feel for the game and willingness to lean into his facilitation ability—he has awesome passing vision, and he’s going to be a phenomenal ball-connector at the next level. Scholarship schools should be intrigued by him, especially if he can knock down shots like he did yesterday.

A well-built scorer who leaves his mark on the game from the perimeter. If his feet are set, there is a high chance he is converting from deep. He does a good job putting himself in position to rebound the basketball and finds ways to impact the game even when he is not scoring. Uses ball screens effectively to create space and has no issues scoring off the bounce. Also shows flashes of being able to create opportunities for others on the offensive end.

#106 –> #75 (+31)
Avery-Turner has been one of the biggest risers of this prep season. The 6-foot-4 guard doesn’t have an offensive weakness and has really impressed with his three-level scoring ability. He has a beautiful-looking shot from three and the mid range, and he has a really strong body which he uses to bump defenders off of him on the way to the hoop for finishes. I’m also impressed with the senior’s ability to find teammates and manipulate the defense with his head and eyes. Avery-Turner is a scholarship player who probably isn’t getting the credit he deserves. A 31 point jump in the rankings is a start, but I bet he’s still on the rise.

Avery-Turner had a quiet first half, but he totally erupted in the final 18 minutes against Winchendon. The 6-foot-4 guard might’ve been the most impressive passer on the floor for MacDuffie; he made multiple incredibly heady cross-court reads and even threw one Jokic-level wrap around pass on the baseline. He also has a super strong body and can finish in the lane and make shots from the perimeter when the help doesn’t come. Avery-Turner is controlled, solid, and very smart. He’ll have way better games ahead and will be a scholarship player by the end of the year.

Avery-Turner is a well-rounded wing on MacDuffie who should have a very effective season for them. The 6-foot-4 athlete has really excellent down court speed and was one of the better rebounding wings I saw at the showcase. He also has really good touch off the backboard and good elevation at the rim in transition. He didn’t knock down his three balls against St. George’s, but his shot looks great and I think he’s probably going to shoot it pretty well this season. No real weaknesses for two-way wing Avery-Turner, who should be garnering scholarship interest.

Avery-Turner, a versatile wing out of the MacDuffie School, has impressed with his two-way play for the New York Lightning. He has the ability to make plays off the bounce, can knock down shots in catch and shoot situations, and is an impressive and athletic finisher when he attacks the rim. His ability to make plays off the bounce continues to improve, as does his feel for the game on the offensive end of the floor. He’s a solid two-way rebounder, can defend up and down a position, and has a high level IQ in team defensive schemes.

and his ability to create off the dribble was a sight to see in a big-time matchup that went to overtime. He was stopping on a dime and hitting threes with confidence. His step-back dribble move looked very advanced, highlighted by a specific step-back three attempt where he bumped off his defender and hit a beautiful shot from the corner. He also got into the mid-range and utilized his floater to keep the defense honest, and his shot versatility made it hard to stop and predict for the opposing defense when he was feeling it like this.

had a great two-way performance that showed off his offensive juice and defensive activity. With a sweet handle, he was creating space off the dribble, getting to his spots, and knocking down shots off the bounce from mid-range and from deep. He also showed off his passing in transition and under-the-radar bounce with an on-the-break dunk that energized his team. Defensively, he had quick feet and active hands. Forcing steals and making life difficult for opposing on-ball offensive players. The confidence on the floor was telling and it showed in all facets of his game.

is a cold-blooded scorer who knows how to put the ball in the basket with the best of them. He can create his own with ease, taking advantage of the mid-range like a pro. Avery-Turner can also shoot off the bounce from deep with a picturesque jumper and he has excelled at going at his self-induced pace and creating havoc for defenses. He also has shown passing flashes, getting the ball through traffic to his teammates by finding small cracks to get the ball through. Avery-Turner’s floater is solid and his creativity with his offensive arsenal stands out. His confidence and domination of this side of the court already is very exciting and coaches and programs needing a bucket should feel the same way.

Previous Rank: 51 (+7) Avery-Turner proved to be one of the top underclassmen in Connecticut this winter and, subsequently, rose 7 spots in this rankings update. A big combo guard with high upside on the offensive end of the floor, Avery-Turner is a crafty scorer of the basketball. His game features a mix of jabs, shot fakes, and an assortment of other movements that he utilizes to create space and get into the teeth of the defense. When he gets to the rim he can finish with either hand and does a good job of picking his spots as a scorer and distributor. Defensively, he’s a high IQ team defender that has the size to guard either backcourt spot. He’ll play with the New York Lightning on the travel circuit this spring and summer.
