Thompson really impressed me with his combination of size and shooting. The 6-foot-4 lefty has a quick and accurate release and consistently made shots from the mid range and three, both off the catch and off the dribble. He had some trouble handling the ball and effectively attacking closeouts, but he has good passing vision and can play really well without the rock in his hands. He also had a couple nice moves in the post, where he leaned on his strength and size to bully smaller defenders. I’ll be curious what Thompson’s role looks like on a really talented MacDuffie team this season.

Thompson, a smooth shooting wing out of the MacDuffie School, has impressed early on while running with the Mass Huskies. The 6’4″ lefty can really shoot the basketball and has impressed with his ability to make contested shots in the mid-range. He uses his length as a scorer around the rim, makes quick decisions with the ball in his hands, and does a nice job of cutting off the ball. He’s garnered wide-ranging interest at the Division III level in recent weeks and is quickly becoming a priority recruit for that level in the northeast.
