Maiwen, a guard out of Edward Little High School in Maine, continued to expand his game this winter while proving to be one of the top prospects in the MPA. The 6’2″ guard averaged 22.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game this season, utilizing his athleticism, length, and quickness on both ends of the floor. He’s got a great first step off the bounce, finishes it in a variety of ways around the rim, and has really improved the consistency of his perimeter jumper. Defensively, he can guard any spot on the perimeter and thrives both on the ball and in passing lanes. He’s the type of twitchy athlete that could make an immediate impact at the Division III level, but with a prep year might attract the interest of scholarship level schools.

Maiwen is an extremely intriguing prospect who has improved a ton recently but also has a lot more room for growth. The 6-foot-4 combo-guard has proven to be one of the top public school players in Maine. He has long arms and great size for his position, but he also has an advanced skill set; he can shoot it from the mid range and three, and he has a wiggle to his game that allows him to get into the paint and finish against bigs. He also defends his position effectively and is always playing hard. Most intriguing, though, is the fact that Maiwen looks like he has A LOT of room to grow physically, which could make him a big time college prospect in short order. He could totally be a late-blooming kid.

Maiwen, the #234 overall prospect and 44th ranked combo guard, has terrific positional size and great instincts on the defensive end of the floor. He’s an elite on-ball defender that also thrives in the press, using his length and burst to his advantage when making plays in passing lanes. He’s a unique finisher around the rim, benefitting from his length and creativity. On top of that, he’s evolved as a playmaker and also shows the ability to knock down shots from behind the arc in catch and shoot situations. A late bloomer, he could take advantage of a post-grad year or step into an instant impact role at the Division III level.
