Big men that can run the floor, defend the ball, & finish around the rim are a commodity in the modern basketball world. Mitchell has shown the ability to do all of those things. His skill set was on display in the state tournament where his monster game in the quarterfinals helped the Eagles move on. He recently received his first D1 offer from Oregon State, look for many more to follow.

Mitchell opened up the state tournament with a bang, posting a huge double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds in a win over North Eugene. Then after a fairly quiet semifinal, he registered another double-double in the third place game with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 4 steals. He finished the tournament averaging 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds on .567 field goal shooting. The stock keeps rising for the 6-foot-10 forward as he recently picked up his first scholarship offer from the brand new coaching staff at Oregon State.

It was a coming out party for the sophomore big man in the first round, as he dominated play in the paint. 23 points and 16 rebounds speak for themselves, but the way Mitchell got those points were impressive – he ran the floor for finishes and showed a super soft touch in the paint, including face-up jumpers. In fact, he opened the game with a three from the corner that was all net.

It’s hard to believe Mitchell was barely on the radar of anyone other than hardcore followers last season, largely given the fact he was playing sub-varsity at Putnam. Now at Centennial, the sophomore is in the starting lineup and has already put up some double-digit scoring efforts for the Eagles. With his 6-foot-10 height, length, ability to run the floor, and vast upside the sky could be the limit for Mitchell.

Last year Mitchell was a virtual unknown playing on Putnam’s lower lever squads, but in 2025-26 he’s a starter for Centennial. The sophomore stands every inch of his 6-foot-10 listed height, and his length allows him to be a rebounding and shot-blocking threat. Mitchell runs the floor as well as a guard and with improved confidence offensively, will put up more big offensive numbers as he develops.

One of Oregon’s best-kept secrets is Dakari, a transfer from Rex Putnam. The 6’10” power forward with a seven-foot wingspan spent last season at the JV level, but his potential has quickly caught the attention of media across the area. This past summer, Dakari emerged as one of the state’s most underrated bigs, showcasing impressive mobility for his size and elite athleticism. He runs the floor well, plays above the rim, and continues to develop his game. We expect him to make a major impact and have a breakout season with his new squad.
