Nelson continues to showcase one of the smoothest shooting strokes we’ve seen this spring. As the centerpiece of Timnath’s attack, he consistently delivers when his team needs him most, combining leadership with a knack for making timely plays. His basketball IQ stood out every time he stepped on the floor, as he makes the right reads, keeps the offense organized and plays with poise under pressure. Nelson is at his best with the ball in his hands, creating opportunities for both himself and his teammates. His scoring arsenal was on full display this weekend, knocking down shots from deep, creating off the dribble, and finishing when opportunities presented themselves. He continues to prove why he’s one of the top guards to watch
Nelson is flat out a player and checks every box you want in a true point guard. His handle is tight and confident, allowing him to control the pace and get to his spots whenever he wants. The vision stands out just as much as he sees plays develop early and delivers passes that put teammates in perfect position. His shot is smooth and consistent, making him a scoring threat defenses have to respect at all times. What separates him even more is his relentless motor. He competes on every possession and sets the tone with full court pressure defense, making life tough on opposing guards from start to finish
Timnath went 23-4 on the year and had plenty of seniors who helped push them on their deep run. Cody NelsonCodyNelson

is a player who caught my attention and is my pick for the surprise breakout candidate for next year, and you got to see that at times this year for Timnath, where he showcased the ability to impact the game in various ways. Nelson averaged 6.8 points a game in a limited role. He made smart passes and showcased a high IQ. He knows where he’s supposed to be on the floor, he spaces the floor, and cuts for finishes. Nelson had some big games this year, and I think that was just the tip of the iceberg. We saw him for the opening weekend of the grassroots season, and he looks to be on a mission right now. Nelson is going to make a jump in the rankings this go-round with more to prove.
Nelson had himself a huge weekend and looked like one of the top players at Boomtown on Saturday. He showcased a complete game, was steady in each game, and scored with ease. He’s reading what the defense is giving him, settles the team down when they’re sped up, and puts them in a flow. Nelson got going inside as he showcases excellent footwork, he shoots it from deep, and has an in-between game. He’s a confident scorer who plays the right way and is a player that I feel many will talk about as the summer progresses. We have rankings coming out next week, and I think we’ll see a big jump from him.
Nelson has been a steady and impactful piece for Tinmath, bringing production and reliability every time he’s on the floor. Averaging 5.8 points per game, he’s shown he can knock down shots, especially from the corner and keeps defenders honest with a strong pump fake. When run off the line, he doesn’t settle, attacking the rim with strength and purpose to finish through contact. His ability to play within the flow of the offense while still being aggressive makes him a tough cover. As his confidence continues to grow, Nelson’s offensive versatility and toughness are becoming real assets for Tinmath
Nelson is a guard you’ll want to track. He’s smart, composed, and plays the game with purpose. He knows how to pick his spots and doesn’t force the issue, and that is exactly what you want in a young lead guard. I’m curious how assertive he can be as a scorer, and if he can run the team without a system and a showcase is the perfect setting to watch him take on more responsibility and test himself against top-tier competition. He can be a name that pops and get more on the radar with a big showing.
