‘s one-handed slam late in the 4th quarter of the 7th Region semifinals dominated highlight reels, but it was Johnson’s floor-diving steal that led to the fast break. Defensive sparks weren’t all the veteran 6th man provided for the Tigers. With 30 seconds left in the first quarter, Bryce nailed a 3 from the right wing and then another from the same spot midway through the 2nd quarter. His two-way play was invaluable to St.X’s regional victory and should remain so as the Tigers eye a Sweet 16 run.

Johnson is part of a loaded roster for Saint X but does hold an early offer from EKU. Bryce had moderate stats this season for the Tigers but a stat sheet cannot encapsulate everything that he does to impact winning for his teams. With a big AAU season ahead, look for Bryce to have a bigger role with Kentucky Ambition than what he had with his high school club this season.

Johnson is a big wing prospect who suffers from being on a loaded Saint X roster. Bryce received an early offer from EKU last year and could be a D1 player depending on how his 17u AAU season goes next spring and summer. For right now, Bryce offers enough long term upside that every time I see him, I’d like to see more. He may be the best player in Louisville that gets no recognition.

Bryce moves from 49th overall to 33rd after some strong AAU showings this summer. Johnson suffers from being on a loaded high school team at St. X so he gets more individual shine during the summer when he carries a bigger load for his Kentucky Ambition squad. A big wing, Bryce does a lot of things at a high level and will only get better as he gets stronger and finishes at a higher level in addition to his good three point shooting.

Johnson is overlooked at times with St X but he holds an early offer from EKU and has potential to have a really big month. Long and lanky with a quick shot, Bryce has potential as a really good shooting wing. If he gets the opportunity to play in front of coaches this month, I expect him to take advantage.

Louisville Saint Xavier is one of the deeper teams in Kentucky and Johnson has came off the bench in the two games I caught this weekend. He’s had no trouble making an impact as he’s done an excellent job of rebounding and going after loose balls when he’s on the court. I thought Johnson played hard when he was on the court and made an impact on both ends. Even knocking down a couple jumpers off the catch, Johnson is at his best when he’s able to be set up by drive and kicks from his guards. At the high school level, depth is a luxury that most teams can’t afford, but with guys like Johnson, Saint Xavier can trust their bench to give them quality minutes.

Johnson has been restricted to a 6th man role for the Tigers up to now. A big wing, Bryce has been more of a three point shooter than anything else for St X until now. If he and

both get going, there won’t be a better duo of wings in the state for the next two seasons. Johnson is definitely a name to watch.

Saint X has actually received a ton of preseason hype this year but they’ll need to develop their bench as the season rolls along. I think Johnson has the intangibles to be a big time contributor for the Tigers and will be able to help on both ends of the court.

Johnson is likely to be one of the best freshmen/JV players in Louisville this season and will get an opportunity to carve out a varsity role. Long term, Bryce should be an impact player for the Tigers and is going to score a lot of points over his career. This ranking is a starting point and he could move way up the list over time.
