About D’mario
Expert Analysis

Shorter was very impressive at our freshman camp in August and left me interested to see more. The only issue with that is he’s likely to be a freshman and JV player this year on a loaded roster at St. X. A tough guard who was living in the paint when I saw him last, D’mario excels at getting past defenders and finishing at the rim. He’s also a good defender who can really sit down and guard opposing players. File his name away for the future.

Playing for a stacked St X team, D’mario was a guy that I personally hadn’t heard of going into the day. He had that changed by the end of the day. He is a true combo guard, that can make impact plays on both ends of the floor. He picked up in the full court with multiple turns and steals. Offensively when he got down hill, he was too strong for smaller guards to stop. He finished over multiple defenders multiple times. He has the ability to be one of the best players in the 7th region for years to come.

Staying at Saint X, Shorter was another new name that really impressed me on Saturday. He is physical and can absorb contact on his way to the rim or he can penetrate and kick for open looks for teammates. D’Mario is on a veteran St. X team so his name may not be known at the varsity level this season but he is a name to file away for later. He could be one of the top guards in 2029 by the time all is said and done.
