Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Rothe is going to be a very good player when it is all said and done, and he seems to be showing signs of growth since the last time that I saw him play. He was the best player this weekend for this Titans squad for me, as he excels in making others around him better. He handled pressure well and set up teammates for easy baskets while running. Rothe was generating some solid looks to where teammates just got to shoot it or score at the basket. He also got out in transition for some scoop layups. What I like about Rothe is how he pushes the tempo. He’s a guard about pace, he scored with ease, and also showed footwork and a post-up game. He looked very balanced and is a 2029 that I am high on. Curious to see if it continues.

Rothe is not a player who is going to just wow you with huge scoring games or just a player you put it in his hands, and he goes and makes it happen, but when watching this team, he’s a player who stands out with just making winning plays the entire time, and that is big for me because it’s so duplicable. He delivered in every game that we watched because he was constantly hitting shots, he was making sure the defense had to find him, and he was constantly moving. Rothe challenged himself defensively, was boxing out, and making sure this team had extra scoring opportunities, and he has a high IQ as an off-ball guy. He’s a young player worth keeping an eye on.

Rothe showcased himself as a dynamic guard. He lit up the 3-on-3 portion of the day with shot-making and carried it into 5-on-5 by thriving in transition. He finished off outlets, ran the break, and buried threes with consistency. He even mixed in some crafty no-look passes. Rothe’s scoring ability and creativity make him one of the top guards to track moving forward, and he was a player who had plenty of moments during the event.

Rothe turned heads this summer with Team Daum by applying constant defensive pressure and showing he can finish effectively around the rim. We will really be looking to see how he expands his offensive game to the perimeter by knocking down open looks, shooting with confidence, and forcing defenses to respect him beyond the paint. If he can pair his disruptive defense with reliable perimeter scoring, Rothe will show he’s a true two way contributor capable of impacting every possession

Rothe made his mark as a strong on ball defender, consistently disrupting passing lanes and creating turnovers. He excelled in transition, finishing at the rim and setting the tone early with his ability to push the pace and get some easy buckets. He was able to facilitate for his teammates in both games.

Rothe really stood out in his two games and stepped up as the floor general his team needed. From the jump he was in control, confident, and making things happen on every possession. He was dropping dimes all night with passes that hit his teammates perfectly in stride. You saw he had a great feel for the game and was always one step ahead of the defense. What made Rothe even tougher to guard was how well he moved off the ball. Coming off screens, he was a constant threat getting his own shot or creating space for someone else. Defenders had a hard time keeping up with him, and he used that to his advantage to set up several big plays throughout the game
