The third prospect from Southeastern Prep in the top 10 of the 2027 national rankings, it’s safe to say David Peavy has built a monster squad. The second point guard to have an older brother be a five star and first round draft pick, both Black and Hampton will hope to follow in the footsteps of their older sibling and make it to the league. Black has taken a significant jump since the summer ended, impressing at Team USA Camp and continuing that upward trajectory this winter. Recent offers from UNC, Missouri, Cal and Villanova add to a deep list of high major programs who are interested in bringing Black into their program.

Southeastern left with a commanding win over in-state rival West Oaks with their standout junior point guard leading the way. Having grown significantly and added notable athleticism in the past year, Black kept the game in the palm of his hands while picking things apart off the dribble and showing his growth as a perimeter shooter. He mostly lived on the perimeter and thrived as a setup man in the first half before turning things up in the second with physical and crafty forays to the paint. Black finished with 22 points and continues to track as one of the top lead guards in his class.

It is super obvious upon viewing Beckham Black as to why he’s widely considered the top PG in the 2027 class nationally. A supremely gifted playmaker that frankly operates on a completely different wavelength to everybody else on the floor. His mind is his greatest asset, add in the physical gifts, skillset, and competitive fire, it’s incredibly clear that this is in fact the best point guard prospect nationally in 2027. Black helped Southeastern Prep coast to a win over a very talented Davidson Day team. He finished with 14 Points, 6 Assists, and 2 Rebounds, all on 5-6 from the floor. Efficient, fun, and effective, Black has the whole package as a PG, and it was on display in Southeastern Prep’s opening round win over Davidson Day.

Loud weekend here for the skilled, instinctual 6-foot-3 floor general as his stat line indicated as he averaged a double-double of 21.5 points, 11.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game. Played a precise floor game mixed with mature pace, high-level processing, and using his positional size to his advantage against opposing guards. He dissecting the floor in transition quickly and used his creativity off the bounce in isolations to manufacture advantages for himself and force a defensive rotation to free up a teammate on the baseline or around the arc.

Beckham Black was a true floor general whose fingerprints were on every possession. A near-perfect point guard prospect, he dominated the game with his brain, toughness, and all-around skill. Black’s court vision was insane, whether threading the needle through traffic or leading a cutter with perfect timing, his passing felt instinctive. He was also the best defensive floor general in the country and also an elite rebounder. While most point guards watched the glass, Beckham attacked it. He wasn’t just a commander on offense, he anchored the defense too. He understood angles, closed space, and picked pockets without gambling.

Black’s defense was in lockdown mode, shutting down the ball on the perimeter while giving the ball handler little to no space to operate. But his impact didn’t stop there. Black’s basketball IQ was on full display as he read the game two steps ahead, proving to be one of the most instinctive playmakers on the court on and off the ball. Black stood out as the most effective drive-and-kick artist of his class, putting on a masterclass in setting up his teammates. He broke down defenses by attacking the lane and forcing rotations, then expertly finding open shooters on the perimeter. His court vision, decision-making, and body control made him a true manipulator of defenses. When defenders gave him space or sagged off, Black showed confidence as a shooter and didn’t hesitate to fire, confidently knocking down jumpers as he destroyed teams from all three levels.
