About Jaxon

Now at Southeastern Prep, Richardson brings yet another violent high-flyer to the lineup and in his typical fashion, attacked the rim with ill intentions this weekend. Several times in transition he found driving lanes, cuffed the ball like a running back on the football field, and proceeded to explode high before throwing it down hard. When his defender fell asleep on him as the backline help, Richardson made hard cuts baseline for lobs. He showed off some confidence in getting into his three-point shot off the catch with good balance and preshot prep. Richardson also left his fingerprints on the games as the front man on the press to force opposing teams with his size and active hands to generate turnovers.

The younger Richardson now slides into the role his brother previously held as a stopper and connecting piece for the Explorers. Getting a bigger role in the offense this year as well will allow him to expand his game and showcase more than just his strong finishes and dexterity around the basket. Jaxon definitely has the innate understanding of the game and uses his IQ to slash to the rim and become a secondary finisher when needed.

Jaxon Richardson is a name some may recognize. The 6’6”, 180 lb forward only played sparingly in Memphis but the flashes that were seen certainly show a player ready to make an even greater jump this year. His ball-handling skills are vastly improved and Richardson’s ability to get downhill and stop on a dime and freeze his defender was on display. As the circuit wears on, Richardson is poised to play more minutes and feature his drive game all across the country.

An athletic wing at 6-foot-5, Richardson is the X-factor for a talented Columbus squad that features a number of future high-major division one players on it’s roster and that’s just the start. He plays passing lanes well and is a terror in transition.

The 6-6 sophomore guard has been high-flying this season where he can impact the game in a variety of ways. Richardson does a lot of the dirty work where he makes hustle plays on both ends of the floor whether it’s keeping possessions alive on the offensive end or going after a loose ball on the defensive end. Jaxon plays with a high motor and good energy where he has huge upside for the next two years. On the glass, Jaxon is long and bouncy where he will limit the opposition from getting a second chance to score. His jump shot is still looking to gain consistency but has plenty of time to work things out on his offensive skillset.

The 6-5 rising sophomore forward has shown a ton of growth this summer playing for Paul George Elite and will be a name to keep an eye on for the next three seasons. Richardson plays with superb athleticism and can finish around the rim while absorbing contact. During his freshman season at Bishop Gorman (Nevada), Richardson averaged around eight points and six rebounds per game.

The 6-6 small forward has put up some impressive stat lines this week at the NCAA Basketball Academy scoring in double figures in every game so far. Richardson also has displayed great handles and has a smooth inside out game where he is knocking down outside shots with a ton of consistency. His defensive versatility is also standing out with his great footwork and body placement where he can become one of the best two-way prospects in the upcoming sophomore class.

Seen a lot of high school high flyers in my day, Richardson has a chance to be up there with some of the best. The first thing I look for is “different” bounce. Imagine sitting behind a wall, and only being able to see the top of a person’s head when they jump as high as they can. You can see the bottom of Richardson’s feet. He had a powerful dunk off a semi break that looked as if he was using a trampoline. On top of that he used his bounce to swat away several shots from interior players, showing the ability to use those hops for rim protection duties.
