Ortiz did an excellent job on both ends of the court this past Sunday, and was always hustling all over the floor. He has some sneaky bounce and is quick off the floor, allowing him to be a real asset on the boards, even against bigger opponents. He does a great job tracking the ball and timing his jump, making him a solid rebounder both offensively and defensively. Ortiz is a vocal player and did a great job moving without the ball, creating space and freeing himself up.

Ortiz is a heady, ball handling guard with good quickness who does an excellent job changing speeds to keep defenders off balance. He is a capable shot maker from beyond the arc and has a good feel for the game, consistently making sound decisions with the ball in his hands. Ortiz also moves well without the ball and is a capable playmaker who sees the floor and finds open teammates.

Ortiz showed plenty of creativity as a scorer throughout the Expo. He’s comfortable rising up for jumpers both off the dribble and off the catch, while his deep bag of gather moves allows him to get to the rim in different ways. Ortiz also uses a floater effectively to finish over bigger defenders and showed that he can punish shorter defenders by using his size to finish over them.

Ortiz plays with poise as a primary ball handler and keeps the offense under control. He gets teammates involved, attacks the paint when opportunities open, and has enough shooting ability to keep defenders honest. Beyond the offensive production, he competes defensively by creating deflections, rotating well as a help defender, and pushing the pace whenever turnovers are forced.
