Smooth Freshman Guard that didn’t necessarily have eye popping numbers in the scorebook but loved the way he moved on the floor. Confident guard that looked comfortable playing on or off the ball. Showed a nice clean stroke from the perimeter as well as the ability to get in the lane make plays for himself as well as others.

Cathedral High School will be a Top 5 team in Class 3A to begin the season and they just might be rolling out a freshman starting point guard. Gold Jr. is one of the top prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2029 with elite shot creation ability off of the bounce. He can create separation, make tough off of the dribble three-point shots, and is a very good playmaker for his teammates as well. Gold Jr. was one of the top performers for an Indy Heat 14u team that finished the Jr. EYBL Peach Jam Runner-Up this summer.

Gold Jr. is on the short list of prospects that we had seen a couple of times prior to Sunday’s Freshman Showcase. He was one of the standouts over the summer for Indy Heat 14u who went to the Jr. EYBL championship game at the Peach Jam in July. That is where we first had a chance to evaluate this 6’1″ guard from Cathedral High School. He is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the freshman class and can really get hot from three-point range as he did in one stretch during five-on-five play at the Freshman Showcase. There is no denying the skill that he possesses with the ball in his hands.

There is no doubt that Gold Jr. is one of the most talented playmakers in Indiana’s Class of 2029. He will likely step in and be a starting guard in Cathedral High School’s backcourt from day one which is not easy to do. The 6’1″ guard is so shifty with the ball in his hands. He gets to his spots quickly and efficiently without a lot of wasted dribbles. Additionally, Gold Jr. can really get going from beyond the arc. He will put pressure on defenses in ballscreen situations and will attract the attention of multiple defenders well beyond the arc. Definitely one of the top freshmen in the state at this point.

Typically, the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase is our first chance to see any of the Class of 2029 prospects. However, we watched Gold Jr play live a couple of times out at the Peach Jam in late July as the talented 6’1″ playmaker helped lead Indy Heat 14u to the Jr. EYBL championship game. He could compete for some minutes in the Cathedral High School backcourt sooner rather than later.
