Bloom Freshman Lights Up Metea Valley in Debut

We started the day off by getting our first look at Bloom and their highly touted incoming freshman Keiwon Gulley. They beat Metea Valley 56-53 in a fun contest. Gulley more than lived up to the billing as the 6'0” point guard can really get buckets. Banged in a pair of threes, showed smooth handles, crossed his man getting to the rim, and pushed in the open floor off his defense. He had 22 points in the victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='2334404' first='Tre' last='Watkins'] of Metea Valley is one of the most underappreciated players in the class of 2026. He is a slender scoring guard that gets buckets with ease. Crisp and clean pull up game from both two and three. Slick handles with the rock for creative layups. He had 18 points.

#1 2027 Davis Tops #1 2028 Kelly in Front of Droves of High-Major Coaches

Next up we saw the top prospects in the 2027 and 2028 class go head to head as Warren beat Neuqua Valley 86-72. Warren star [player_tooltip player_id='2323571' first='Jaxson' last='Davis'] was quite simply sensational in the win. He did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted as high-major coaches were laughing at his ridiculous shot making from distance as he poured in seven threes. Also had several crafty takes in the lane for euro steps and floaters. Davis dropped 34 points leading his team to a win. Class of 2026 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2437519' first='Braylon' last='Walker'] had a big game as well. The well built two guard poured in jumpers at a high rate nailing five of them in the game along with multiple and-1s for 22 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531981' first='Cole' last='Kelly'] is the top 2028 prospect in the state. He had 16 points in the loss to Warren. Liked how he cut toward the basket off the ball for several scores. Also hit several threes with his clean and easy shot. Great size, strength, and skill combination. [player_tooltip player_id='2839878' first='Mason' last='Martin'] hit the game winner on Saturday. He continued to nail threes as the shooter with size scored 12 points on four from beyond the arc.

Guard Trio Lead Curie Past West Aurora

Curie will be led by a trio of guards this upcoming season and those were the guys that carried them to a 51-39 win against West Aurora. [player_tooltip player_id='2734369' first='Justin' last='Oliver'] is a rising senior guard who is coming off a big junior campaign. Quick guard that handles it well and has some juice getting in the lane where he scores and sets others up with dimes on the move. Primed for a big senior season. [player_tooltip player_id='2877501' first='Malik' last='Horton'] is a young emerging guard for Curie that put his name on our radar with [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] this spring. His shot making and toughness are his two best attributes. Mike Oliver Jr can really let it fly from beyond the arc and brings leadership to this squad.

West Aurora star [player_tooltip player_id='2125687' first='Travis' last='Brown'] had a nice outing scoring 17 points. Slithery guard that handles it with ease. Smaller guard, but has good length. He pushes in the open floor and an finish with either hand at the rack. Also is a sound perimeter shooter knocking in several threes.

Davis and Walker Lead Way for Warren Against Top 2028 PG and Peoria Richwoods

The matchup between Warren and Richwoods featured the top ranked lead guards in both the 2027 and 2028 classes. Warren got the win 72-61 behind yet another stellar performance by [player_tooltip player_id='2323571' first='Jaxson' last='Davis']. He was unstoppable in this game including throwing in a full court shot right on the money to end the half. The jumper was flowing as was his ability to break down a defense for scores in the lane or dishes. Went for 30 points. Another solid game from [player_tooltip player_id='2437519' first='Braylon' last='Walker'] as the strong bodied guard chipped in 16 points in the victory. He poured in mid-range jumpers and converted through defenders putting pressure on the rim. Big man Avonn King is primed to take on the Zach Ausburn role for Warren this year. He is an undersized wide bodied five that is an efficient scorer getting buckets when they present themselves on dump offs and off the glass as he went for 20 points.

Richwoods star 2028 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531961' first='Amarion' last='Smith-Holley'] more than lived up to his status as the #3 overall prospect and opened the eyes of a lot of high-major schools that were in attendance for Davis. Absolutely explosive scoring guard that can get buckets from all three levels. Creates off the dribble with his shake, makes acrobatic layups, and has range on his three point shot. Spin move might be his favorite! He had 27 points in the win. They also got a big contribution from 5'8” senior guard Kaden Johnson with 13 points.

Marist Continues to Look Like Preseason Top 5 Team

In our second look at Marist over the weekend they more than lived up to a potential top 5 preseason ranking winning 58-38 over Glenbard North. Highly ranked wing [player_tooltip player_id='1552436' first='Karson' last='Thomas'] led the way with 17 points. Powerfully built shooting guard that brings plus athleticism and shot making to the table. Flies in for offensive rebounds and is powerful on straight line takes. Solid game from [player_tooltip player_id='1845350' first='Stephen' last='Brown'] as the Marist post has definitely improved as a passer and is more consistent as a rebounder. Spin moves round the cup for scores as he had 6 points. Transfer from De La Salle Charles Barnes is a long and rangy defender that really impacts on that end of the floor blocking shots and getting steals. Offensively he is best scoring inside 10 feet making the difficult shots through and around defenders as he had 10 points.

Tough game for the stars on Glenbard North. [player_tooltip player_id='2455373' first='Oturo' last='Redento'] did manage to rack up 7 points using his quickness and getting to the foul line. [player_tooltip player_id='2404186' first='Matt' last='Welch'] is a plus shooter from three to watch as he poured in a couple for 10 points.

Kenwood 2027 Perimeter Duo Do Damage in Broncos Win

Kenwood he 58-48 victory against Lake Forest on Sunday afternoon. The only remaining contributor from last year's squad that had a big role is [player_tooltip player_id='2323622' first='Damari' last='Stephens']. The big and athletic wing is a powerful downhill slasher that gets to the rim like a running back. Keeps putting body blows on his opponents with each drive. Skilled ball handler, improving passer, and flashes as a shooter. He had 20 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2864914' first='Osiris' last='Bell'] is an emerging name in the 2027 class that as a 6'2” shooting guard he is smooth in transition getting to the rim using his speed and body control for 14 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2499191' first='Rory' last='Haas'] was outstanding for Lake Forest in this game. He is a 2027 6'6” power forward who has really shot up since we last saw him during the high school season. Plus three point shooter that poured in an array of threes. Can handle a little in the open floor, but his biggest value comes with his shot making as he had 17 points.

Leflore Explodes for Big Game Leading Hyde Park

There were several guards I was looking forward to seeing in Hyde Parks 55-39 win over Romeoville, but none were more impressive than Amare Leflore. The 6'0” combo guard was excellent with his perimeter shot making nailing several threes and turnaround jumpers. Scores in transition with his speed and quickness. Dropped 20 points in the win. [player_tooltip player_id='2540031' first='Kye' last='Ward-Owens'] is a rising senior wing to watch that dropped 14 in the victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323599' first='Jamarri' last='Fears'] led the way for Romeoville capping off a strong weekend. The youngest Fears brother played with confidence scoring pushing in the open floor and using his handles off the bounce for 10 points.

Williams and Pinto Impress in Fremd Victory over Talented Young Yorkville Squad

One of the players I was most looking forward to seeing this weekend was Fremd forward [player_tooltip player_id='2839970' first='Jordan' last='Williams']. We had heard he had made strides in his game and they were certainly right as he was dominant in a 69-42 victory against Yorkville. Williams is a physically built combo forward that has more perimeter skill than I previously remembered. Got to his spots and scored with good feel around the cup. Got in the lane for 5 foot shots, euro steps, and crafty conversions through and around defenders. His pin point passing was also something that left an impression on us. Made sound reads in the half court on a consistent basis in the two games we saw. In the win he had 20 points. Got a massive effort from his perimeter shot maker [player_tooltip player_id='2540096' first='Rafael' last='Pinto'] as the rising senior was in a zone from deep connecting on seven from beyond the arc. Quick and concise release that he made at a high clip for 23 points. Also the shot making from three and passing of [player_tooltip player_id='2834460' first='Tommy' last='Moffett'] needs to be noted as well. Good size wing that can shoot and dish.

Our first look this summer at the young guns from Yorkville as they have two highly ranked 2028 prospects. [player_tooltip player_id='2532003' first='Joey' last='Jakstys'] is a power forward that brings plus athleticism, good rebounding, and the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting as he notched 9 points. Athletic wing [player_tooltip player_id='2194655' first='Braydon' last='Porter'] played quite a bit on the ball. Plus athlete that can score in the mid-range and was tough finishing around the basket. Both have bright futures as potential D1 prospects.

Fremd Goes 2-0 with Victory Against Downers Grove South to Close Event

We saw Fremd get their second win of the day 57-51 against Downers Grove South. Williams and Pinto carried them again. It was Williams passing and pushing in the open floor along with 12 points. Pinto was very good again knocking in the three ball along with mixing in some scores off cuts and in the post for 27 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323275' first='Adam' last='Flowers'] is the go to player for DGS. He was super smooth pulling up in the 15-18 foot range for crisp mid-range jumpers. As the game went on he went downhill for straight line takes for tough scores. Dropped 20 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1552395' first='Sean' last='Day'] is another name to watch. Lefty combo guard with a thin frame. Impacts running the floor and has a clean shot for 13 points.
