Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka 6'9" | PF Blair Academy | 2027 State #32 Nation NJ brings a physical edge to the interior, leveraging his strength to battle for position, carving out space, and making an impact in the paint where his relentless energy and toughness remain evident throughout, as he consistently thrives in the game’s gritty and physical aspects. Awaka’s physicality served as the driving force behind his interior offense— competing for offensive rebounds to create extra possessions and turn second chance opportunities into points, using angles and deep seals to generate efficient looks with his back to the basket, effectiveness around the rim in the dunker spot where he converted on opportunities created by paint touches, and even flashing his ability to put the ball on the floor, attack closeouts off the dribble and get downhill to the basket.

There are few big men in the class who are more physically prepared for the college level than Awaka. A powerful finisher who embraces his role as an enforcer, his strength and motor make him difficult to handle on both ends of the floor. Awaka never backed down from Ike Davids Ike Davids Ike Davids 6'10" | C/PF Long Island Lutheran | 2027 State NY , helping draw four fouls on the LuHi big man before earning several more against his replacements. He carves out space, controls the glass and collected eight rebounds in only 23 minutes. Awaka committed to Florida earlier this week and appears capable of continuing the program’s tradition of high-level big men.

Prep Hoops National Ranking: 32nd

Next highest National Ranking: 41st 247

Awaka is being recruited by some of the best teams in the country with his listed top five schools as Arizona, Uconn, Florida, Michigan and Michigan State. It’s easy to see why Awaka has these top programs after him as his size, physicality, rebounding and shot blocking will immediately translate to the college level. The anchor for the 3SSB champions New Heights, Awaka is one of the biggest summer stock risers in the country.

Awaka is the top rated prospect in the 2027 class and should show why this winter. The 6’9 forward uses his strong frame to get position down low and finishes strong above the rim. Awaka plays with a nonstop motor at both ends and sets strong screens in the half court. He is a force on the glass and swats almost everything around the rim on the defensive end. Awaka released a top five of Florida, Arizona, UConn, Michigan and Michigan State earlier in the summer, making his recruitment one to track this fall and winter.

A physically imposing interior paint presence who leverages his physical strength and brute force to carve out space and impact the game from the inside, Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka 6'9" | PF Blair Academy | 2027 State #32 Nation NJ , much like he consistently does, played with an exceptional work rate and thrived in the gritty aspects of the game. Relentless in his physicality, Awaka establishes position with strength and toughness for deep seals in the low post and allows that to be the catalyst for his offensive production — being effective with his back to the basket and using his low post game to create scoring opportunities, looking more patient in assessing the defense off entry passes and understanding angles on post ups. While also showing different ways he can score the basketball from the FT line area and down— effective in PnR action(s) as a strong roller setting a lot of high ball screens, comfortable operating in the mid post with his face up game, efficiency around the basket out of the dunker spot/ short corner area, and even imposing his will on the offensive glass to win rebounding battles and capitalize on second chance opportunities.

Awaka was a physical force throughout the day, using his brute strength to establish deep position and create scoring opportunities around the basket. Once he gets defenders sealed inside, he is extremely difficult to stop and routinely finishes through contact. He also made the most of his opportunities at the foul line, adding to his offensive production. On the glass, Awaka was a strong presence, consistently rebounding the basketball and controlling the paint. Defensively, his length played a major role as he altered and challenged numerous shots around the rim. His intimidating presence in the lane forced opponents to think twice before attacking the basket, making him a major impact player on both ends of the floor. High majors should be making him a priority.

Using his powerful build and commanding physical presence, Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka 6'9" | PF Blair Academy | 2027 State #32 Nation NJ has developed into a highly imposing interior player who consistently creates space with his strength and sturdy frame. He leverages his physical tools to make an impact on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Awaka thrives around the basket, showing comfort posting up, finishing through contact, and scoring efficiently as a roll man in PnR situations. His relentless work on the offensive boards also helps generate valuable second chance opportunities. Defensively, his toughness, rebounding ability, and shot blocking instincts enable him to protect the paint effectively, using his timing and anticipation to contest and alter opposing shots.

Coming off an impressive start to the spring and continuing that momentum into last month’s live period, Awaka has further supplanted himself as a dominant two way force on the interior, having earned offers from HM programs like Georgia Tech, Arizona, and UConn.

A physically imposing interior presence who takes up significant space in the paint, Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka Kamsi Awaka 6'9" | PF Blair Academy | 2027 State #32 Nation NJ ‘s first season at Blair Academy saw him often times leverage his strength and intriguing physical tools to piece together impactful stretches on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, helping Blair get to as high as #1 in the Prep National Rankings and finishing as Prep National runner ups. Awaka benefited from Blair displaying stretches throughout the course of the season of making it emphasis to get him the ball on the inside— doing his best work on the block, showcasing the ability to operate in the low post and finish through contact, proving effective as a finisher in PnR actions, while also creating second chance opportunities with his activity on the offensive boards.
