Previewing The Preview: Sunday Matchups Part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sunday's schedule at The Preview is loaded with intriguing matchups between established city powers, programs looking to take the next step and prospects ready to introduce themselves to a wider audience. With so much talent taking the floor, the slate deserves to be broken into two parts. Here is a closer look at the first group of Sunday games worth watching.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>10:15 AM - Adams Street (NY) vs Baldwin (NY)</strong> <br><br><strong>What to Watch For: </strong>This will be an interesting clash of styles, with Adams Street leaning on its young backcourt of Eliezer Beltran and [player_tooltip player_id='2994243' first='Jaiden' last='Carmona'] to provide much of the offense against its Long Island opponent. On the other side, Baldwin will count on senior forward Devon Mitchell to set the tone for the Bruins on both ends of the floor. Whichever side's top players assert themselves most will likely put their team in position to win. Keep an eye on All-Long Island guard Michal St. Jean for Baldwin as well.<br><strong><br>11:30 AM - Archbishop Molloy (NY) vs Francis Lewis (NY)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>What to Watch For:</strong> This battle between Queens programs has all the makings of a high-scoring affair. On the PSAL side, senior John Walker and sophomore Zaire Pinnock should form one of the best one-two scoring punches in the league, regardless of borough. Their CHSAA counterparts are led by fast-rising junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2780642' first='Anthony' last='Elor'], while wing [player_tooltip player_id='3680066' first='Mike' last='Nembhard'] will look to begin what could be a breakout junior campaign of his own.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>12:45 PM - Darrow (NY) vs CATS Academy (MA) <br></strong><br><strong>What to Watch For: </strong>Darrow enters the season as one of the most talented teams in the state, if not the most talented. Its frontcourt of Abraham Taiwo, [player_tooltip player_id='2689496' first='Modu' last='Abdulrahman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1981500' first='Baba' last='Diop'] is versatile and, frankly, massive. Add [player_tooltip player_id='3434708' first='Malik' last='Sonko'] to the mix, and the Ducks certainly have options. CATS counters with a pair of Division I forwards of its own in Rashard Miller and David Lunn. Whichever team wins the battle up front will probably walk away with the victory.<br><strong><br>2:00 PM - Long Island Lutheran (NY) vs Blair Academy (NJ)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>What to Watch For:</strong> Arguably New York's best program since 2020 will go head-to-head with New Jersey's best over that same stretch in what, for my money, is the single most enticing matchup of the event. [player_tooltip player_id='2470853' first='Kamsi' last='Awaka'] against [player_tooltip player_id='3563377' first='Ike' last='Davids'] will feature two of New York's premier big men, while also serving as a banner matchup for [program_tooltip program_id='2078609' first='New' last='Heights'], where both played on the club circuit. With no fewer than 10 potential Division I prospects expected to suit up, this one is simply can't-miss basketball. LuHi also brought in a loaded 2028 class that will need to step up in a major way. It will be interesting to see which of those young players makes the strongest first impression.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
