Expert Analysis
Logan Greenwell | Prep Hoops Scout
A skilled, bruising forward that has become one of my favorite players to watch. He’s a blend of size and skill and has become really good at getting downhill and finishing around the basket. Has also shown a knack for playmaking off the dribble setting up teammates. The improvement I’ve seen from the early high school season to the AAU season has been tremendous and I look forward to seeing him progress throughout the spring and summer.

It’s only week one, but Niko Reed, a 6’6” sophomore forward from Ben Davis has been the most impactful player that I’ve seen this week. Physical forward that plays with an extremely high motor was active on both ends of the floor. Hard left handed driver that uses his body well getting to his spots and finishes through contact at a high level. Plays physical on the defensive end with the ability to switch onto perimeter players and keep them in check.

Reed has so many tools to be an impactful prospect. I love the physical tools at his disposal. Utilizing so much of that strength to have his way down low. That doesn’t even include the footowork he used to help free himself up. As a defender, he’s the kind of guy what will sacrifice his body to win that ball. Fighting for loose balls while getting in the way to stop slashers from converting.

He ran with Multiplier 15U and averaged 14.8 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.9 bpg. Reed led the squad in rebounding and blocked shots on the weekend. Niko did a great job of covering up the rim and glass for Multiplier. He was also one of the team’s leading scorers as an impact player.

Reed set the tone with energy and athleticism for Multiplier. Arguably one of the most explosive players in his division, he made an impact defensively with his ability to guard multiple positions. Offensively, he electrified the gym with high-flying dunks in transition. Reed’s relentless motor and gritty play turned heads all day long.

You’ll be impressed just when looking at this young prospect. Reed checks every possible box when it comes to athletic and physical gifts. The 6’4″-6’5″ forward has impressive size, moves around like a guard, and has the strength of a post player. He was comfortable with the ball in his hands showcasing the ability to start the fast break directly off of a rebound and was a very skilled passer. The lefty forward really dominated the glass and was a go-to presence for Multiplier 15u throughout Sunday’s championship game. Really impressive young prospect that will be a sophomore at Ben Davis High School.
